It is getting dumber, cloud compute costs money and google doesn't make anything off of these after purchase. They are dumbing it down and removing features so their cloud costs go down.
Thanks! Been waiting for this to go on sale for a while. I know there must be a new one around the corner, but don't want an AI powered one. Looks like they only had a limited number in stock as it is OOO now.
I'd wager that a new one is in the works with Gemini replacing assistant
Gemini is already replacing some features on existing devices. The only thing the newer ones may have is more offline capability like the Pixel 9 series with Gemini Nano and faster response rates with it. It could be placebo but my Max has gotten much better again recently in acknowledging and responding to things after they were stripping features from assistant.
It's in stock for shipping, but wants to charge me $35. Are others seeing that?
Probably bc it's out of stock for local delivery. I was able to still snatch one with delivery same day so that means it's shipping from a store or warehouse nearby.

Tried finding it in store on clearance but was not lucky and frustrated that they would not honor it online
Great to see it pop online and save me the hassle of searching cages across stores
