  • This deal works out to $15 per month. A nice offer since Mint Mobile typically only offers this sort of promotional pricing on shorter duration plans.
  • Please see the original post for additional details & give the WIKI and additional forum comments a read for helpful discussion.

I had Mint for one year until about 6 months ago. Two things made me switch to US Mobile: data prioritization and extra fees significantly increasing the price at renewal.

Data prioritization: I live in a semi-rural area, so the vast majority of the time this wasn't an issue. However, occasionally on weekends when people were home my phone data would slow to a crawl. Where it became untenable was during power outages (including lengthy ones during natural disasters). My phone data was literally useless. I couldn't even check the weather apps. This was my #1 reason for switching to an MVNO that included priority data.

Fees: US Mobile charges you the stated price, inclusive of taxes and fees. Mint's price was much higher than expected due to taxes and what seemed like extraneous fees.

So far I have much preferred US Mobile. Even though I have to use the Verizon network (slower data speeds) in order to get priority data, I haven't had any issues and it's still plenty fast. During the last major power outage I had zero issues with data. I plan to keep them when it comes time to renew.

Not really! There is a $25 "recovery fee" and other fees which might bring the mint deal within a few dollars of the visible one

When you go to this page, it states at the bottom T&C this is only for new customers. If you login to your account and try to find the discounted plan it is non-existent. If you know a workaround please let us know. Thanks.

If you use a lot of data I think you may still be able to get the TMobile 30GB data only plan, no voice, for $10.
do you have link to this ?

See the wiki.
Here's the wiki I can find but I don't see anything related to when the plan starts. Maybe it's mentioned in somewhere else?

You will be charged $210 ( Recovery fee + taxes ) approximately as your FINAL PRICE.

As always, use a referral link to get $15 in renewal credit for your next renewal.

If you're doing multiple lines can even "daisy chain" so you get more credit on the 2nd/3rd/4th etc lines]

Limited time, new customer offers (buy 2 months get 1 month free for 5GB plan & 50% off 12-month Unlimited Plan)-end 1/2/25.

All service plans, including promotional plans and Trial Plans, must be activated within 45 days following the date of purchase. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any plan or service that is not activated within 45 days following the date of purchase.

I was all set to get this deal, it sounded good, but they really should advertise the TOTAL price, since it isn't$180 (or $360) as they claim, once you add the recovery charge, that would have been $25 more...

anyway, I went to target to get a trial card from mint for a couple bucks, and tested it out, and boy, am I glad I didn't get this deal

My area must be really congested, data rates were pathetic, lower than 4Mb/s, I tried different hours and it bounces all over the place, 30Mb/70Mb/13Mb/120Mb and so on

During prime time hours, it's really bad

I recommend everyone get a trial card from Target first to make sure you get what you are expecting, and you can test for 3 days

What's also weird is, they don't charge a recovery fee if you get a card from Target, so why do they do that for online only?

I've had lots of issues getting connected. MMS didn't work and we got it going, then group text chat didn't work and they basically told me iphones can't use group chat on mint. RCT also doesn't work on mint. And finally we tried to get a new esim. New esim was activated but then they needed me to give them a text confirmation but my current sim didn't work anymore. So I have no service and they can't help me out. Have to borrow a phone to call for service. I am very close to doing a chargeback on my card and go back to my old provider.

Service starts when you activate the sim. Is that what you're asking? Otherwise, I don't know what your question is.

Because they can when you're paying Mint directly. When you pay Target, Mint can't collect additional fees for Mint and remit them.

Thanks! My question is to one of the previous post which claims that the service starts from the purchase date instead of activation date. It sounds unreasonable to me. For some reason, I can't upload the screenshot in my reply so I just quote it below:

Your Mint service starts from the time that you activate your plan. Mint Mobile SIM cards can be activated up to 45 days after you receive your SIM.
Nope, from the purchase date, not the date that you receive. This info is from the email.

I switched back to this after 4 months on Visible $25 a month plan. Visible was quite spotty in Northern San Diego county compared to my previous years of Mint. To get a year unlimited for $180+tax was a no brainer to me. Even better was the $45 on one AmEx card!

I was always happy with Mint network, but was doing 15 gb not unlimited. Visible $25 is significantly worse here. With Visible, I got 4G a lot of the time, and at home and work specifically. And there was a lot of dead zones for me in a major market. Mint has none of these issues here in SD.

Thanks OP.

Pretty much my experience with another Verizon MVNO. What the heck did Verizon do to their network? Their signal keeps bouncing between 5G and LTE while the t-mobile MVNO is rock solid.
