I don't have to do this because I get Costco membership via my company.

but my friends have basically never paid for Costco membership since 2019.

This is a lot to go through to save like $65 or something annually. Costco depends on those membership fees for their existence because they sell product at barely above cost. That's why they're so uptight about being a member to shop there. Personally I just pay what they ask annually because I feel like what I get is worth it.

With Sam's Club you and add + and some text before the @ symbol of a Gmail email and they'll treat you like a new member registering online. Sam's is so lax you can register an account online and use Scan and Go never even needing to go to the front desk or take a picture.

Thanks OP. I just purchased it. I am new member to stacksocial and costco. Can anyone help me with the following three questions 1. Does the membership start as soon as I purchase it (i.e. from today)? Incase not and If I start the membership on Jan 1, 2025, will the membership last till Jan31, 2026. Is my understanding correct? 2. I got notification post purchase form stack social that I need to redeem my purchase, does redeeming means activating costco membership, if yes, can I wait till Jan 1, 2025 for that? 3. The 45$ card will come after the membership is activated or since I have already made the purchase, it will come with in 24-48 hours. Do I need to redeem the digital purchase for the 45$ card Thank you in advance

I am in similar boat but as per rules written at stacksocial and costco, following are my answers -
1. Membership will not start immediately. You need to redeem at costco and that is when membership starts. General rule with Costco is like this, if you start at 1/1/2025, membership will end on 01/31/2026
2. Stacksocial terms says that you need to redeem by 1/31/2025
3. Cashcard will be emailed after 2 weeks of redeeming membership not from today's date

Strangely, purchase made by me at 10 pm est today ( 12/22 ) is coming up with purchase date of 12/23 in the stacksocial email. I looked purchase receipt at their portal which looks fine. Dont know if they will deny promotional cash card saying purchase was late or after 12/22

Same thing happened to me. I downloaded the receipt with the proper 12/22 date and mention of the $45 shop card just in case it needs to be escalated. The only thing that looked wrong was the email.

Is it normal to get charged for tax on a Costco membership? I'm in WA if it matters. Brought the stack social deal and the checkout had no mention of sales tax. Right when I complete the order and it goes to order confirm, lo and behold, there is tax added. Felt a bit misleading.

Bought Sam's membership voucher back in November. My membership just expired but I think Sam's catching on with different email addy because I tried everything and nothing worked. Tried with Gmail moving the dot and none worked. Tried with Yahoo email and doesn't work. Then tried different credit card for payment card, that didn't work. Tried with different address, that didn't work. Tried with hubby's name, that didn't work. I gave up. Chat with Groupon's rep and was given credit back as one time courtesy since it passed the 3 days after purchase. I'm going to wait and try next year.
