Stella McCartney is big time fashion. No shoe actually should cost $50 let alone $250. That said, I have a lot of expensive shoes cuz I'm not beholden to my own morals, shoe-wise, unfortunately. Someday I will be.

My wife has the Stella UBs from a few years ago and loves them so I bought these for her for Christmas. Can't comment on these but she still wears her old Stella UBs all the time.

I'd normally advise against Ultraboosts for anything involving actual running, but this generation is different. The 5X is a legit running shoe with solid features, and the only difference between the 5 and 5X is that the 5 has a lace cage, while the 5X doesn't. That said, it's possible that this designer version has stylistic decor that makes it heavier or otherwise different from the regular 5/5X.

And the non-designer version still retailed at $180! Considering that that's the same price as the Takumi Sen, it seems pretty damn steep. But I jumped on a pair at $63 yesterday, because that's a steal for a well-regarded running shoe like the 5/5X.

If I'm being 100% honest ultraboosts aren't running shoes nor are they "well-regarded". They're a lifestyle shoe. I will admit their first iterations were much better then recent generations with running. But most runners would never run in an ultraboost especially even for $63. The supernova is a much better shoe for running and currently cheaper.

5X is a capable running shoe. Previous generations of Ultraboost definitely aren't.
