This along with all phone thermal units are designed for <10ft only. They use different sensors than those cheap hunting units that designed for detecting thermal signals further out.
Different products different purpose. These are great for electricians and professional users conducting inspections but NOT for hunting or surveillance.

Different products different purpose. These are great for electricians and professional users conducting inspections but NOT for hunting or surveillance.
You can use them as a stud finder, you can find leaks in your home and address them, you can find very hot vampire devices and put them on a smart switch, you can find where pipes are leaking, you can run water through a pipe and find where pipes are when hanging shelves so you don't drill right into some PVC, etc.
They are in fact so sensitive that if you walk around barefoot on tile and turn around, you can trace back your footsteps.
I got the flir today and it works ok with my S24U, sure higher res would be better but not going to make any compromise on my data.

It was made for the iPhone 5, which is no longer compatible with cell service these days.
It is low res and the app is a bit clunky, but it does the job around the home.
I've used it to see where insulation was missing in ceilings, at night outside you can see rocks giving off heat they absorbed during the day. You can even see where the cat was sitting on the couch a couple minutes after she got down.
The creepiest thing was walking around my house with the lights off. Walking into the kitchen in pitch black, and seeing someone moving around in there as I walked in. It was my reflection in the stainless steel refrigerator door across the room.
