I bought this about 3 years ago when it was on sale on here. I opted for a 3 year warranty. The thing died like 2 weeks before my warranty expired. No idea why it died but at the time it was highly suggested to get a warranty so I did.

Whatever big item like this from Walmart preparing they will damage. FedEx driver may not strong enough with one person to unload it.

This 100%, but after they damage it you can get a partial refund and this with a dent for $120 isn't a bad deal. Exactly what happened with my 7cuft chest freezer I ordered last summer.

Can anyone comment on the energy efficiency of a small upright freezer like this versus a chest freezer? Been looking to get a small footprint freezer for the basement, but wondering which style to choose. Are chest freezers so much more efficient that they're worth the smaller capacity for similar price and footprint of an upright?

The dimensions of this are similar to that of a 3.5cu.ft chest freezer listed as a related item on the site.

I would advise you to get a frost free one but I know they cost more. But unless you don't mind scraping ice out once a month then its ok.

My opinion on these upright freezers. Buy a chest freezer unless you have back problems and cannot bend over in it.
The chest freezers will hold a lot more. I've also read that the frost free freezers cause faster freezer burn.
I didn't know this until I got a frost free upright and the freezer burn is true.
I only got the upright because I do have back problems. But now I am looking for a small chest, non self defrost freezer as a backup.
We had a huge upright Frigidaire that went out in 5 years. They just don't make them like they used to.

Also the chest non self defrosting, do not cause a lot of frost buildup it's just around the top and easy to get off. You don't have to defrost it every month either
