A refrigerator that is "Garage Ready" essentially has a small heater that tricks the thermostat in the fridge into running your compressor so that your freezer keeps your freezer items frozen. . Normal freezers and refrigerators are usually in a house where the temperatures are fairly stable. Garages can get much hotter and colder. "Garage ready" freezers can operate from maybe 0–100 F.

I bought this at the $219 price point about 4 months ago. Worked great in my garage until about a week ago and died. Luckily I noticed and was able to move everything to my regular freezer, but it could have been a nightmare. Still under warranty, so trying currently to sort all that out.

These use as much energy as a chest freezer 2x the size. I know the vertical orientation is nice, but I'd rather have more space.

I bought this over a year ago in the brushed stainless/black color. Works perfect. Manual defrost is the only way to go to avoid early freezer burn. When there is a buildup of hardened snow, I use a flexible plastic scraper to pop off the chunks. No damage to the interior.

EXPECT DENTS. I read all the reviews before buying. So many negative. All were for dents. I did have medium dent in the side. Nothing too upsetting. I kept it because I feared these would not be replenished. I picked mine up at Walmart. The young guys working the Pick Up stock area had it resting on it's back. Not good. Told them why. Left it up right for two days before plugging in.

That's interesting, thanks for explaining! Def. a good spec. To have. I have a chest freezer in my garage - works great but so hard to know what's in there when it's full so I have been thinking about getting an upright.
