During the beta, to ensure a great customer experience T-Mobile is optimizing the experience on select smartphones and will expand the beta to more customers and phones as more satellites launch. We'll provide more details on optimized phones when we open the beta in early 2025.

Yes, in every way. Different technology, different purpose. This will be broadband versus the iMessage narrowband

Yes, to verify you have a valid T-Mo service.... what's the issue?

TMO partnering with Starlink will be the gamechanger for the industry
Verizon and AT&T are working with ASTS currently as well

In less than (2) yrs timeframe....dead zones and post-storm disaster outages will be a thing of the past

This is most impressive for TMO, in my opinion. What this company has become in less than a decade should be studied as a business case at Harvard Business School. For some perspective, this is T-Mobile's Coverage Map from 2015

Ummm thinking the satellite equipment will still need power to function???
D2C is essentially a cell tower from space. There needs to be power at Network Operations Center (NOC) of course, but if the net itself is 'down', there wont be any access anyway. Local power issues won't affect your 'space-cell' coverage.

This would be exactly what I need while cruising. Don't need to call and don't really care about having data but being able to text my family location and plans would be awesome.

Any dangers to signing up for this?
Like, is it possible it will force the phone to route via the sattelite's slower and potentially non-iMessage-compatible service even when a terrestrial tower is marginally available, albeit at a low signal?

Weird. I was just on the t-mobile website. I never go there. I was looking at upgrade opportunities. Saw the Starlink thing and signed up. Didn't know it was unusual as I'd hear about it months ago.

Unless I'm blind I can't see anything that says what devices are compatible, it has some specs that are required of the modem but then its on me to figure out if my modem in my phone incorporates those specs.

I'm curious if we have the ability, either on the phone or within the TMO app, to toggle the service on and off. These questions and more are why I want to beta this...I've beta'd dozens of things over the decades, and user feedback has shaped the outcomes of these projects as I've seen first-hand.

I like seeing people who missed the boat on TSLA and are now resentful and full of hatred.

I bought a nice chunk in February 2017. Up ~2,000% on it I think. I'm not full of hatred. I still think this guy is a parasite and yet another piece of sh*t billionaire Big Grin.

I don't think if people "missed the boat" that they're necessarily filled with hatred if they don't have a favorable opinion of the guy who runs the company. Do you really think that's a fair assumption to make? Wink

I think most phones over the past few years should be compatible..mainly LTE.
