We use small plastic lunch trays, like what you'd get in a cafeteria, from IKEA. They are like 2 bucks.

I got this back in early 2023. It got a rip in it in about a year. It's an OK mat I guess. I wouldn't buy it again.

I'm thinking about this in terms of a robot vacuum. The silicone tray is not as likely to budge as the IKEA tray that's plastic, is it? I'm concerned about bumping and sloshing. If the tray doesn't move, the vacuum will bump and reverse (that's what I'm hoping...) What do you think?

This is like 80 cents off the regular price for these. Check the price history, they're usually $7.99 sold by Amazon and very frequently (once/month or so) go down to $7.59 or $7.19. i.e. this isn't a smoking "buy now think later, i gotta get my silicone fix in!" deal.

That being said, I use these exact mats as placemats for my messy toddlers and they're fantastic. Much thicker than cheaper silicone mats, the lip is super useful for when they spill their soup and cereal, and i toss them into the dishwasher without issue.

We use one of those "Boot trays" which are just glorified lunch trays themselves lol, just a bit bigger and deeper which is great for the amount of water they end up dumping lol.

Haha that's a good idea too. We have tiny dogs so they do their best but can only make so much mess.
