I'd recommend steering clear of the Express. It has a 5-UniFi-device limit when used in Cloud Gateway mode… and that includes itself (good grief). I bought 2 of them, a BeaconHD, and a FlexHD during the Black Friday Sale, looking to replace my personal network of eeros, and I'm very disappointed. They don't live up to the hype, and many of the (early) reviews I'd watched really failed to reveal the limitations of them. For instance, I learned (the hard way) that the two Ethernet ports on them cannot have the Native VLAN modified, even in AP Mode, so they're pretty useless as a Wi-Fi bridge for something like cameras or IoT. A lot of the features are pretty half-baked (VLAN), and the fact that you can sometimes get stuff configured through the UI that just does not work is rather infuriating (again, mostly related to the ports: VLANs and tagging; which is really where UniFi should shine over eero-level gear). Which pretty much means you also need a Flex mini switch to accompany each one (which is Ubiquiti support's 'official' recommendation), but that straight blows the 5-device limit.
As mentioned, I also got a FlexHD, but as another commenter noted it's probably not worth the price (again, can't change the native VLAN on the Ethernet port there either).
Overall my project to replace my eeros was a bust, and it cost me 3 times more than I had invested in the eeros to learn that. The eeros are back in place. I've been deploying Ubiquiti UniFi for nearly a decade, so was quite disappointing. If anything, it REALLY highlighted how much Ubiquiti needs to get off their hands and update the Dream Router.
Some very outdated APs they are trying to clear out
Still no UDM pro or SE this year. That's all I've been waiting for... 😖

Looks like a return of the Black Friday prices mostly. The doorbell at $179 is probably the best deal.

I picked up g4 doorbell and pro max 24 in last sale. They both are working fantastic. I wished udm pro or se was on sale as I had to pay full price last time. I might pick up g4 bullets during this sale but really I wish for U6 enterprise AP or wall.

What is the UniFi Express used for? I currently manage my in-home UniFi network on a Mac Mini, but it can be cumbersome when the Mini powers down for whatever reason.

Have erx and edge 10 port switch. Been looking to determine options. Any advice? Or, a forum that would be helpful with recommendations?

I wouldn't pay that much for something that old. Look at the used market for one or homelabsales on Reddit.

I'm in a similar situation. Does the UniFi express only act as an AP and UniFi network controller? Does it replace a router too?

I need another 12-24 switch. I have a non ubiquiti one that I believe is failing. Connections from it are running at 100 instead of gigabit. I know this is usually a cable problem but these are in wall cables that I can't easily replace. The rest of my ubiquiti setup is running well so might bite on this sale.
