Android app is better but still a bit clunky at times. Home assistant integration is pretty great and instantaneous. I have 3 with Chromecast audios for patio/pool/downstairs audio and they work great. Musiccast is built in and does similar but gets a little clunky at times as well and gets harder to combine and separate different zones from the groups.

But it's 100x better than Onkyo. I only wish I bought Denon instead though bc they are on sale often at Costco and Yamahas have gotten more and more expensive over the last 3 years

This is a great receiver, have one in the bedroom running a 5.1.2 setup just fine.

However it's been around $400 a few times this past year, so this isn't slick.

do most yamahas at this price have zone 2 out where you can separately use the network (spotify, etc) to play music out while keeping main channels on tv, etc?

I just want a receiver that plays nice with Series X, PS5 and PC using 4k 120hz. Already tried a Denon and Yamaha that were supposedly HDMI 2.1 compatible and had video dropouts with both. Not sure if it was just them not playing nice with my TV but the lack of compatibility is frustrating. I already gave up on Onkyo and Pioneer. Those brands are a shadow of what they used to be.

Yes, they do. I have a lowly tsr 7850 I use in that manner regularly
