Worst saw I have ever owned. Seriously spend more and get a solid saw. Bought this saw when we were redoing our deck. Terrible power and terrible saw.

My first saw also. My gosh it's loud. Feel like starting a lawn mower every time. My uncle gave me his old Makita.

I used this exact saw with included blade to cut IKEA laminate countertops and got 3 very clean cuts...didn't chip or tear the top either! I was surprised because I was expecting it to be sh@t

Great saw for the price. I bought one last year when the price was same as this. I agree that it's very loud, but it gets the job done. Cuts clean for both thick and thin boards.

Bought this to use with a Kreg rip guide when my old saw crapped out. Loud yes but we should wear hearing protection. Cuts good with a good blade (can't speak to the one that came with it, got a decent 40 tooth). The blade does deflect a little, I was cutting down 2x12s into 2x4s and some of them were not perfectly square.

This is my very first circular saw. I purchased the one that had the laser pointer on it.
The sole plate is not very smooth and feels cheaply made. The alignment appears ok since I've not screwed up any projects that drastically. Big Grin Yes, it is a bit heavy (in my hands) and definitely loud and have had to use ear protection.
For a first time circular saw user, I feel this is good since it doesn't break the bank. Complete a few simple projects around the house, and get a feel for the tool. Also learn how to safely use circular saws like this one.

Would this be okay for a small project to replace some boards on my deck? I probably would not need it otherwise that often.

Isn't the one with the laser a completely different model?

I have this, a Skil 15A, and an awesome Milwaukee saws.

I usually grab this one, the smallest and weakest, for cutting jobs. Why? Nimble and light. 90% of the time ya don't want a beast to cut many 4x4s; you just have a few zip zips to make

I still recommend folks get this as their first saw, especially on sale. Then as need proves upgrade to a powerful, pro grade like big Red.

ALWAYS use a sharp blade designed for what yer cutting, regardless of what saw it is. Always use eye, ear, and hand PPE. Always clamp yer work

I bought a spare one of these the last time it was 50% off, April 24

The basic saw components are the same.
The only difference seems to be the laser.
