If you're worried about breaking your pocket hole jig, then you're using it wrong.

Your drill is made of plastic, and it doesn't break unless you seriously abuse it.

Kreg uses steel where necessary and a high quality glass impregnated nylon for the rest. They are plenty strong and durable for their intended use so there's not much reason to switch to aluminum.

I agree that their shipping prices can be a bit high. If you live near a store they ship to store for free.

Unless aluminum is a fraction of the cost.

Why does it say 49.99 is the everyday price?

It's funny reading all the "what's wrong with it being plastic" comments. Last summer there was a deal on this aluminum Swanson carpenter's square on Slickdeals and I was rooting for just using a cheapo $3 plastic one that does the same job. I got so many hate comments saying that plastic carpenter's square are bad because it can break, etc..lol. What kind of force is actually being exerted on a carpenter's square that necessitates a metal one? With a pocket jig like this - there's a decent amount of force applied when you clamp that piece of wood to it.

This is what I'm worried about. If it's going to be the same one in the picture. Model number on the website matches though.

That one is okay, but it has no dust collection port. The Vevor one is nice to have the option to mount the jig head horizontally when using larger piece of wood. For that, I use the small one from Kreg. The Armor Tool one has decent review and is much cheaper than the Kreg 520 or 720. The auto wood thickness adjustment makes the Armor Tool one compatible to Kreg 720. The Vevor one has only manual adjustment.

Maybe when I graduate beyond cat trees I'll pick up a 720

Geez, mini pocket $23, much less than Kreg that looks identical except color.

I don't use them enough to remember setup and have to revisit the past to get it going…

I bought the exact same item from Menards for $49 just a few days ago. Not sure where $139 comes from.

The MSRP is $139 according to many reviews and on YouTube. Menard's sometimes has items at crazy low regular price, however, it often sold out fot those items. There was a planer like that last year too.

Or just get the armor tool and you won't need to buy a 720

Ordered one just now with free shipping to store pickup. It was not wanting to add one to cart. Had to refresh and add to cart from a second location further down on the page where it lists similar items. Thanks OP. I have wanted one of these but didn't want to pay kreg price for my infrequent use case.
