Honestly, you should hold out for any direct drive motored system. Both the Thrustmaster and Logitech use belt or gears and any direct drive system would be better. That having been said I would assume that the Logitech has more compatibility for modifications, both retail and user created, given it's overall popularity.

I agree, even though gear wheels are cheap and good for beginners. You can spend $100 more and get a Moza direct drive. I honestly think $200 should be the max for any gear wheels

This is a good comparison video - it appears T248 is favored over G923

Thrustmaster is higher quality and has better upgrades (pedals, shifter).

I would DEFINITELY go with this. I've tried both and it's not even close for me. This is a fantastic deal. (And if this is one of your first wheels you don't need anything better. This is really strong motor. I've been using it for 4 years and I have not had a need to upgrade)

Would you say even for a first timer? I mean I guess it would make sense to going for something that'll last you a long time (Giggidy).

The extra torque from the Thrustmaster is very noticeable over the Logitech. I enjoy my T248 much more than any of the budget Logitech I've used. IDK how happy I'd be at this price though. I got mine just under $200 in used like new condition and at that price I've been very satisfied with it, but I also agree with TalentedSnake about the Moza probably being a better value. The R3 PC bundle starts at $299.

Edit: I glossed over the fact that this Thrustmaster is also the PlayStation model. If you're looking for PS compatibility then forget the Moza.

Bought this on Black Friday and ended up returning it. I prefer the good old xbox controller. The wheel fights back and the driving dynamics are not realistic, IMO. It was giving me a headache from constantly spinning.
In Forza, I have setup the same car I own, and I go to tracks with various cars that are also available in Forza. Driving the real thing is far easier than having to wrestle this wheel. I had it setup on my computer desk, and it was not the perfect setup. The brakes were too stiff and the whole base would move backwards unless you placed it against the wall, the paddle shifters were too loud, and the wheel was very heavy with its default settings. Tried to tweak the settings to make it softer, but that wasn't the ideal experience either.

Sounds like you had a less than ideal setup, tbh

There is no question about it. I tried to take out all the variables that were setup related, but in the end, it just wasn't worth the headache to me. I am a casual gamer at best and had this wheel mounted on my work desk, so it wasn't worth the headache of running the cables (which are a bit short) and taking the wheel off for every session. If you have a dedicated setup and play car games regularly, then maybe it's worth the money.

I mean it takes a while to re-learn how to drive in a videogame once you come from controller. It takes a while to learn again that you are actually controlling tires and that's the feedback you are getting on a wheel. It did take me a while. But now I can say that it's mainly G forces that make real driving different. Everything else is very similar.
