Apparently it's possible to increase brightness to 1000 nits with software, it was software limited to 600 for battery life. The apps are called Vivid or BetterDisplay

Local costco showed a bunch in stock in the app last night, but none this morning. Price matched to BB on the first try. Ended up using a $1200 gift card I received yesterday from a geek squad claim on our TV. Upgrading from a M1 Air 8gb/256gb.

Here's my chat prompt if it helps anyone:

The $1,400 M4 MacBook Pro does NOT have Thunderbolt 5. The M4 Pro MacBook Pro does which is currently selling for $1,900 at Best Buy.

Just got this deal price-matched through Best Buy. Had to drive 40 minutes, but it was worth it. I'm upgrading from a 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro. The 120Hz display alone makes the upgrade worth it. Location - Atlanta.

Ah okay. I tried like 4 times yesterday and all the reps just would not budge, saying it was out of stock. Does it show in stock for you on Costcos website?

It always showed out of stock for me, I don't know why but the BB agent price matched it. Got lucky I guess.

Does not work for me. Do you just send them the costco link? The rep told me it is not available online.

Yeah I just sent them the Costco link and they did it. Yesterday they simply would not budge, I sent them the Costco link, the same day Costco link, nothing. I guess it just depends on the agent

Costco Same-Day lowered their price to match overnight. Was showing $1465 last night but $1263 this morning. For some reason I got an additional $16 off (anyone know why?). Came out cheaper than the $1249.97 in-store price, and the Shopper has already checked out and is on the way! Can't believe I got the deal.

Now I went for a 16" earlier from micro center but also had a $2159 for a family member with these specs:

Apple - MacBook Pro 14" Laptop - M3 Max chip Built for Apple Intelligence - 36GB Memory - 30-core GPU - 1TB SSD - Silver

Now - I am wondering if I should just get them this one as it will still meet their basic need. i know two different level of computers but at $2159 that was a pretty good deal but I could save $1000 basically with a decent computer to meet their basic need.

thoughts?

Now that I bought this, Just wondering if doubling the ram to 36gb and going to 16" screen is worth an extra $750?
well i had another one at microcenter at $2159 for 36GB with M3 Max, 14" , 1TB

I'm debating that as it's basically $1K more for those ram, processor and hard drive upgrade
