Apparently it's possible to increase brightness to 1000 nits with software, it was software limited to 600 for battery life. The apps are called Vivid or BetterDisplay

Local costco showed a bunch in stock in the app last night, but none this morning. Price matched to BB on the first try. Ended up using a $1200 gift card I received yesterday from a geek squad claim on our TV. Upgrading from a M1 Air 8gb/256gb.

The $1,400 M4 MacBook Pro does NOT have Thunderbolt 5. The M4 Pro MacBook Pro does which is currently selling for $1,900 at Best Buy.

They did not ask me for my zip code. Just my account details - Name, Number, Email.

Phew, that took several tries to BB price match (6 or 7) and finally got it through. Delivering Christmas Eve — right in time.

Every rep asked and insisted on me giving them a ZIP (and therefore couldn't match) until the final rep. I asked for them to invoice to my email directly and repeated what others posted about "I prefer not to provide PID until I'm ready to purchase."

I just chatted and they said it is out of stock online, so doesn't qualify. I shared the same day link where it is available in multiple nearby costco stores, but they won't accept.

Price matched with BB. No questions asked.

Costco app show OOS for stores nearby except one 26 miles away.
It was available through Costco Instacart for delivery tomorrow but didn't want to risk it being OOS and not being able to price match later. Costco does have 2 years' warranty though.
