Yes, it is very likely this will be free in the coming days; but, only for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
That said, this is, without doubt, one of the best games of the past generation.. perhaps of all time.

I got original xbox battlefront games free from games with gold but obviously access to online play is gone. Is buying battlefront 2 for $3.99 worth it?

I bought this game a long time ago through the xbox store, and at some point EA decided it was theirs and wouldn't let me play without paying for their subscription separately! Buying again! Yes, servers are still running for this game, it is that good.

This game is DOA queue times are well over 2 mins. The multiplayer experience was once amazing, it is a fast paced movement based FPS with giant Mechs but EA stopped supporting it practically day one. Honestly I'm surprised EA hasn't shut down the servers but that's probably coming soon. If you really want to give EA your money this is a fairly cheap option. Oh I heard it also has a single player game if playing that is your thing then go play Control you won't be disappointed... unless you are.
