D2 knife or bust!

Good deal for stainless but for 10$ you get "D2" steel, one handed operation, pocket reversible clip, and it's clone of a $180-ish knife. And it's still in stock

Walmart needs to clone more benchmades.

but still thumbs up for beater knives for around the house, car, shop.

Looks like the D2 is out of stock for shipping and no store has it around me. They only have it in stock when I don't need to order anything else to meet the $35 limit.
That $10 D2 knife is going to be unobtainium for quite a while. They've sold out very quickly twice now. It's like 25% the cost of any lower cost competitor. Seems like the 1st release might have had poor heat treatment in some knives. Not sure how the 2nd release might be...I hear Santa might put one in my stocking but it's just a rumor. Nobody really knows what Santa might bring.

I'm not sure how good this $3 knife might be. The last time I bought a $3 knife from WM they only ground one side of the blade. I use it for all the kinds of things you should never do with a knife you care about.

How can you tell if it's 1st or 2nd release? Thanks.

That's s so weird, mine showing in stock. Maybe it's regional?
It must be. I logged out of my Walmart account and it said an orange one was available. Then I logged in and it said it was sold out.

Just guessing but I think the first release did not have the reversible clip.

I have no clue. But figure if it's being sold now it's probably 2nd release because the 1st release sold out.

A clone? The Walmart blade thickness is half of a Benchmade. It's $10 because it's worth $10. Personally I'd rather spend $20 more and get a real blade made of actual D2
Link that $30 Benchmade please! 🤣
As to this orange knife from Walmart, I got 2 of them mid-August (last ones I've seen in stock too) and mostly carried one for these past 4 months. More expensive knives have languished in the case while I've enjoyed this light weight, forever sharp $10 knife. It is light, opens/closes easy and as I said it's been sharp this whole time with only a few passes on the stone. And I've used it with abandon, unlike I would do with a $100 knife. They sell out for a reason I'm thinking.. Good luck finding one, and Merry Christmas to all!

I just looked again and do not see that blurb anywhere. What I posted was copied and pasted from the webpage. Maybe they changed the item description or something but I do not see what you say you see.

I got it from the app page for it, and I can see now that it's just a stupid AI summary and not the official description. My bad. https://imgur.com/a/FzxxyUm

Wait a minute I heard AI is smart and is going to be in control of our future! That is hilarious and also terrifying! . It is going to be built into everything. Fun times ahead, can't wait for it to be in charge of my medical procedures

I just realized an additional use of these cheap knives: A reminder not to buy cheap stuff when I go shopping. No judgment and I'm speaking generally of like $5 or less knives but I already have enough of those so carrying them should save me some time and money.
