Those sponges get so nasty. I switched to using just a brush and detergent. They last must longer, cost less, and you can just throw them in the dishwasher occasionally to sterilize.

We love these in our household. This version with the "advanced soap control" as they call it is far superior to the older push button style, that has a tendency to leak/waste liquid soap everywhere. These are much better at sealing around all the edges of the handle. Swap out sponges when they wear out and you're all good.

I have found the soap reservoir needs to be kept mostly full for the liquid to be properly drawn into the sponge with the handle press.
