how are single quarts at 3.55 a better deal than a 5 Quart jug at 11 and change? uh?

Picking up 2 jugs of 5W-20 for my car. And yes... you can use truck and SUV oil in your passenger car as long as it is the same viscosity as what your car requires. Truck & SUV oil is basically the same, but has slightly different additives to reduce the breakdown of the oil in severe use, like towing.

If you do a quick search in Slickdeals, you will see that 10 quarts of Kirkland oil is $32 when they go on sale. They are currently not on sale.

I bought six 1 quart bottles at my local Advanced ($3.20 per quart) online and pickup in store. When I got home I checked date of manufacture. All six were manufactured in 2019 and API rating is SN (the latest is SP)! So, if you ok with expired oil (5 years from date of manufacture?) then go for it.
Just ordered two jugs of 0w20 and ran into the exact same issue. The back of the bottle said they were GF-5 certified while the website description clearly says it meets GF-6 standards. I have a GDI engine that requires GF-6 according to the owner's manual. I immediately requested a refund as soon as I picked them up. The cashier acted like I was insane and unreasonable. She literally said it was the correct oil just put in an old bottle. I told her I'm not putting that oil in my engine and risking possible damage.

I was gonna use it for my diesel but the price went up
I wouldn't worry about slight oil weight differences, but I don't think I'd use regular oil in a diesel. A lot of those have a Diesel Particulate Filter which can be fouled by using the wrong type of oil. It would probably take time to mess things up like that, but the DPF is a very expensive component from what I understand and not sure it's worth cheaping out on the oil. Explanation in the vid below …

Good deal. I was able to score the last three local. Tractor Supply normally has these too for about the same price but no dice this time around.

Dang, that's a great price for M1 in general, let alone other flavors of M1.

#1.) It's not going to "ruin" your engine.
#2.) It doesn't "require" GF-6. It "recommends" GF-6. They cannot require a product like that unless they either provide it or pay for it, hence, "recommends."

1. I never said it was going to "ruin" my engine. I said it was a risk I was not willing to take just to save $12 on a jug of oil.

2. It's recommended for a reason. If I ever run into a warranty issue, I'm not giving them a loophole that causes them to deny the claim.

Shows out of stock at my local store, and when I select home delivery, says I need to select another method (due to OOS). Checked 0W-20 $11.65 and 5W-30 $19.45.

Wait till you find out you can change oil viscosity too. 0w20 cars can use 5w20, 0w30 and 5w30 all day long.
Shhhhh. I want my order for 5w-30 to get filled first.

There is no way advance auto is sitting on 5 year old mobil 1 oil. These are all common weights and not some niche oil.
There is a way (I have attached a picture of 5W20 I bought 2 weeks ago). But to be fair I bought also five 1 quart bottles of 5W30 at the same time. API SP rating and date of manufacture 2021. GOOD BUT NOT SO FRESH. Advanced is just getting rid of OLD oil. YMMV (expired or not so fresh). Today I bought 0W20 for my 3-rd car at Walmart, date of manufacture Nov, 2024. That is what I call FRESH OIL.

5w-30 is actually $19.45 for me, but still a bit of a deal. Thanks OP.
