Nah, I get the Sears vibe when I go into JCPenny and Kohl's.

Lowe's was pretty packed in my area this holiday season. Best I've seen since Covid scared too many folks away from public spaces.

As for the tools, I have some Kobalt Krap that has survived very well over the years. They are doing a lot of deals like this lately, and for the DIY-guy at home, this is probably a good deal.

Wow what have they done to this box! Man I haven't paid attention to these but I remember many many years ago pre COVID inflation these were awesome sets for the money at Christmas. I got one and still use it to this day. The box it came in was junk but the tools were a solid mix. Over the years I've slowly upgraded to better stuff but it really was a great set. This set looks like a box of crap from all the stuff in the kobalt catalog no one was buying. This is what you used to get for $89

No idea why so many negative comments. This is plenty of peoples first mechanics set and at $89 is a solid deal. Of the mega sets the 227, 250ish, and 300ish set. My favorite was the 250 one bc it had more wrenches. But all 3 sets are fine and good for the money.

The only gripe me or any of my buddys who have gotten this set is:
1) Theres too many 12 point sockets Especially in the 1/2in in size. Which is why we all upgraded years later. As 12 point can slip on tougher/stuck bolts
2) The case isn't great. Stuff can move out of its position and cause the drawer to not open. Which can happen if you are moving this kit around.

I have had this set since 2018. The box is completely broken now. The tools are ok but the box is just terrible! It was having problem since day 1. The racks are not easy to open and close and sometimes come off inside the box and fall of on top of each other. The handle gave up a month ago and caused me to almost drop the whole box on my leg. It hit the ground and the side of the box also broke. Some of the sockets also rusted after 3 years.
Overall, not the greatest toolset especially with this crappy box, but for the price, it's not a bad start. I am going try to use the "lifetime warranty" tomorrow to see if I can replace it so let you know how it goes lol.

I have so much gorilla glue holding my box together. I should have used epoxy though. Yes let us know. The box is truly crap.

As others have said, the box is trash. Still a great deal at this price, but plan on buying socket holders from HF or something. As any "mechanic" already would. 😄
