My experience with InfiMobile has been fine. I tried a 6-month, minimal data plan (500MB/month) with them for a non-critical phone last year. It was dirt-cheap like $18 total so just $3/month. It went fine so I just renewed it for a year for $36 total ($60 - 40% off coupon).

Now because of the whole Red Pocket fiasco, I have moved two important lines over to InfiMobille on their 10GB annual plan for $99. One of the lines is already active for two weeks and no problems so far except initial APN setup (did not do it automatically so I followed online instructions for VZN-based service when I actually had a TMO-based SIM from them).

I have had limited interactions with InfiMobile customer service, which I guess is positive as it means things have worked okay. But when I did chat with them about the APN mixup I just mentioned, it was fine.

Anyway, point is that InfiMobile has worked fine for me, so much so that I have just moved over two important lines from Red Pocket because of the fiasco there. Not saying that my experience will be what everybody has (for example, it did not work well for you). But it seems to be working out well for many folks.

Their prices have gone up a lot. They have traditionally had a sale around Black Friday for a 5GB plan for $120 annually--many people rely on that to renew. This year, it did not appear, and price was up at $180. A couple of weeks later, it dropped to $160. Now, probably on seeing many people jump ship, they finally dropped the price back to the traditional $120, but in many cases, it was too late for folks who waited it out and eventually left for significantly cheaper plans (like on InfiMobile among other spots). Beyond that, they recently cut back international calling from 85 countries down to just 20. Also, there are questions whether new plans actually allow hotspot usage or not (according to the website, no, but according to RP reps, yes). BTW, I think USB tethering is still possible--I have to confirm this. Also, they starting charging a bunch of extra fees so when the 5GB plan was at $160, it was actually about $185 out the door. Plus, via eBay, when they send you a renewal code by e-mail, they started charging shipping, which is completely absurd. Anyway, these are most of the big things, I think, but yeah, a bunch of other small annoying things, too.

I would have stayed with RP simply out of inertia but with the InfiMobile 10GB plan for $99 (plus taxes total of ~$103), it was really impossible to justify staying with RP for their 5GB plan for $120 (plus unknown taxes/fees). And it was also an issue of timing--this $120 5GB plan just appeared--like more than a month after it usually does.
Thank you for the detailed reply. I didn't know RedPocket had fallen so far. They use to be a reliable deal for cell service.

Watch out with Red Pocket. I have purchased multiple yearly plans. They will cut off service one month early. And a year is not 365 days. More like 355 days.

I have to watch them like a hawk. They do resolve the issue if you contact them.
I would be pissed if I lost a month of service

150 texts over 60 minutes isn't even a lot in a conversation between just 2 people. That's 2/5 texts/minute or a text every 24 seconds.
I know. When I first talked with the RP CS, and heard it was probably due to premium services like weather/horoscape, I thought it was my daughter's fault at that point, and I was ready to lecture her to make sure it did not happen again. When I saw the actual conversation of who does what when for the presentation, I was dumbfounded. So chatted with RP again to try to find out what number of messages/time constitutes abuse that will lead to an automaticsuspension, and they said they could not provide it. I don't think that they were trying to be obstructive, but they simply did not know the details of their algorithm.

I would love to get a decent explanation about this from RP--if anybody else knows the details of what constitutes abusive use, please share them here! Like I said, she hardly uses text otherwise.

Darn this looks so cheap compared to Mint's $180 promo (https://slickdeals.net/f/17970564-new-mint-mobile-customers-12-months-unlimited-talk-text-data-180). I've used Mint before so I know the towers are good around my area. The price makes it a very tempting gamble for a new service provider...

There are a lot of little niggles--none of them by themselves necessarily a reason to jump ship. But with the crazy pricing and last minute drop to $120, that was too much. Indeed, I would have accepted all the little niggles and stayed with RP if they had not delayed the $120 sale pricing.

Interestingly, this delay in dropping the price showed me a couple more niggles. I moved two 5GB annual plan lines to 1GB monthly plans temporarily, expecting to see the $120 sale appear later. I purchased the plans online via the RP website, and specified that they be queued up right after the existing plans to start automatically. But they didn't, and one of the lines lost service for a day till I figured this out. I just mentioned this recently--more details at:

On the Amazon website, you can pick whether you want VZN or TMO SIMs. So you could buy one of each, I guess...

It might be a good idea to try a month of service first before making an important switch. I would have been reluctant to move two important lines over to InfiMobile from Red Pocket if I had not been running on the InfiMobile 500MB Dealbuster plan on a non-critical phone for six months with no issues.

It looks like you can get a 1-month 5GB SIM for $9 (plus any taxes/fees). So maybe try that on a non-critical phone first before making a switch with an important phone?

I just went back to Mint on our two lines on the $180 unlimited year plan. This was after 6 horrible months on Infimobile of dropped calls, broken VM, and no response from customer service.

I was disappointed I couldn't get a better deal this holiday season for the next 6 months. I normally switch between carriers every 6 months for best deal, and I can say without a doubt Infimobile was the worst experience I've ever had (runner up Ultra). We don't need unlimited, normally 5GB each per line is fine for us, but at the Mint price it just made sense.

Infimobile is just dirt. I don't really care how decent some may be able to get service from them. The fact they are entirely based outside the US and have no semblance of customer service. I don't like them, I don't trust them, I wouldn't use them again (and once more, remember I've used many many carriers).

Some people get lucky with their service, don't have any issues. Many are not that lucky. IMHO, I wouldn't give them any business because I don't want them to grow as a company because I don't want to see a small company that cares zero about their users to grow into a big company that cares even less.

I have infimobile now and I am happy with it.. I have contemplated with buying since it's a small company and company address and all other reasons..however, after using it for past 8 months, I am loving it. High speed data, phone and relatively good YouTube/Spotify experience. I will definitely buy this again once my plan ends.

Ditto. It's not mission critical. Free eSIM transfers. I let me kids rock it for YouTube all day

I needed e-sim activation for my phone today (Mint year expiring) so I got the 10GB for $99 plan from the infinimobile website directly. Activated in about 20 minutes.

No doubt that different folks have different experiences on InfiMobile. I'm thinking it might be due a little bit to usage style. Between work and home, I have wifi available so that's what I use. So it's only when I am out on the street or away from wifi that I use mobile data. But even then, it's for lighter duty stuff like web browsing, checking e-mail, messaging, etc. I am not doing heavy duty stuff like streaming videos or similar on mobile data. If I were using mobile data as my primary connection to the Internet, well, I would probably be more sensitive to issues.
