My experience with InfiMobile has been fine. I tried a 6-month, minimal data plan (500MB/month) with them for a non-critical phone last year. It was dirt-cheap like $18 total so just $3/month. It went fine so I just renewed it for a year for $36 total ($60 - 40% off coupon).

Now because of the whole Red Pocket fiasco, I have moved two important lines over to InfiMobille on their 10GB annual plan for $99. One of the lines is already active for two weeks and no problems so far except initial APN setup (did not do it automatically so I followed online instructions for VZN-based service when I actually had a TMO-based SIM from them).

I have had limited interactions with InfiMobile customer service, which I guess is positive as it means things have worked okay. But when I did chat with them about the APN mixup I just mentioned, it was fine.

Anyway, point is that InfiMobile has worked fine for me, so much so that I have just moved over two important lines from Red Pocket because of the fiasco there. Not saying that my experience will be what everybody has (for example, it did not work well for you). But it seems to be working out well for many folks.

I just bought the Franklin modem from a different slickdeal. I just need a Sim card so I can hotspot internet for my cameras and another house. Would this work for that?

If I buy this from, will the 60 days activation be from order date (today + 60) or sim received date (today +7+60)?

Just wanted to chime in here that Infimobile service is good. I had this plan on my iPhone 12 mini using eSIM and it worked as expected. I had the 6month deal. Porting out is simple as well. Not sure what people here are saying its bad service when it works well and is very cheap.

Watch out with Red Pocket. I have purchased multiple yearly plans. They will cut off service one month early. And a year is not 365 days. More like 355 days.

I have to watch them like a hawk. They do resolve the issue if you contact them.
I used to get red pocket eBay annual plan. I think lot of people assume the ebay "annual plans" are a full 365 days service but they are actually 360 days service. With infomobile, it is also 360 days service. The reason why they do this is simply that they don't want you to constantly buy the Black Friday deal every single year and reset there. After many years of 360 day plan service, you will eventually be out of sync with the deals if you want constant service.

Hey, if you go to Amazon, the 12-month 500GB deal buster plan is still available for $36!

That's 500 MB…..not GB. 1/1,000th the data.

I'm on their 10gb plan. After 10gb high speed, I get like 5kbps. It's like dial up.
This is a fact, streaming videos and i witness this, my god it was horrible 😅🤣😂

No that's not it. It's because each "month" is 30 days like most cell plans and an annual plan would be 12-months, hence 360 days. Nothing nefarious as you claim.

Their prices have gone up a lot. They have traditionally had a sale around Black Friday for a 5GB plan for $120 annually--many people rely on that to renew. This year, it did not appear, and price was up at $180. A couple of weeks later, it dropped to $160. Now, probably on seeing many people jump ship, they finally dropped the price back to the traditional $120, but in many cases, it was too late for folks who waited it out and eventually left for significantly cheaper plans (like on InfiMobile among other spots). Beyond that, they recently cut back international calling from 85 countries down to just 20. Also, there are questions whether new plans actually allow hotspot usage or not (according to the website, no, but according to RP reps, yes). BTW, I think USB tethering is still possible--I have to confirm this. Also, they starting charging a bunch of extra fees so when the 5GB plan was at $160, it was actually about $185 out the door. Plus, via eBay, when they send you a renewal code by e-mail, they started charging shipping, which is completely absurd. Anyway, these are most of the big things, I think, but yeah, a bunch of other small annoying things, too.

I would have stayed with RP simply out of inertia but with the InfiMobile 10GB plan for $99 (plus taxes total of ~$103), it was really impossible to justify staying with RP for their 5GB plan for $120 (plus unknown taxes/fees). And it was also an issue of timing--this $120 5GB plan just appeared--like more than a month after it usually does.
Absolutely spot on about every boneheaded thing RP did in the latter half of the year to drive existing customers away. Could not have said it better 👍🏼

I've been using Red Pocket for 8 months now and have had no issues with data or speed in San Francisco. My main complaint is that they charge a fee every time you change your eSIM. For example, if you get a new iPhone, you'll need to pay for a new eSIM.

Are there specific APN instructions for Tmobile based versus Verizon? I'm having a hell of a time trying to get support from them. They say my SIM is Verizon and the APN they give me over chat does not have data or MMS.
There is another Verizon APN on their website (4 APN settings actually) and with those, still no MMS but at least I get data.
Honestly, I wish I went with Mint or Tello on that line. I have 6 total lines and the ones on Tello and Mint were easy with zero issues.
Watch out with mint. If you go over 100 MB a month roaming, service will not work anywhere you roam.

Fwiw I got 6 month and no issues. It was absolutely worth the cost. It is a new company though with really low prices so I do understand people's concern about long-term viability

No, this the APN config that works for me for a TMO-based SIM from Infimobile.

Yeah, typo on my part. This $3/month is for an ultra-basic, limited plan to just keep a phone alive, so 500MB/month.
