All the cameras are deep clearance as well. Just ordered a camera, wiring kit, and backup mirror/camera for $30.07 total. Not bad for a complete cheap setup for an older vehicle.

All available items as far as I can tell.

I think a cheap cam would've picked up both of those instances.

I would not go cheap on this, old or new car.
Dash cams are not to catch funny videos. It's your insurance.
When you had an accident, it may (and usually does) come to your word against his and having video confirming your story can save you 100s if not 1000s on insurance. So you want absolutely reliable camera and you know you have video clip if something happens.
Two personal cases:
1) Lady backed up in the parking lot. Clear damage to my front and her rear. She had the audacity to call insurance and claim that I rear-ended her car. Upload of one file solved this problem.
2) I was going straight, dude was turning left. By the time cops came, traffic light changed several times. The only way to prove that I had green was to have video.
Any video is better than no video. If a cheap camera is more likely to break, then don't cheap out. But if it only gives a lower quality video, that's sufficient for both of your examples to prove who was at fault.

As long as you aren't interested in license plates or actually using the video footage for YouTube, I think a cheap camera is perfect for a car. A nicer camera is better, but good vs mediocre video will both be sufficient for determining fault.

Better to spend your money on a good micro SD card - make sure it's a high endurance card rated for many writes, as the dashcam will be continually writing to the card, and generally automatically overwriting old footage.

Dongar makes Adapters for certain cars that have powered mirrors. You plug in the adapter in the back of your mirror and it creates a USB port. I went with this over hardwiring. But they don't have them for all model cars.

The reviews for the cameras look pretty bad on amazon and advance auto.

Otherwise I'd pick one up

Yea other sites, including their own page, show even their best one is awful.

Spend more for a better camera.

~1/4 of the Advance Autoparts are going out of business, so you may want to check your local store for clearance - my local store has a lot of stuff for 50-80% off.

Showing $7 for me but still a decent price. A mini/micro to C adapter can be had for $1 or so if needed on eBay/Amazon

I love my Dongar adapter but most cars do not have power to mirror at all times, only on Acc.

Do you know if the cameras record and delete over old footage? I have an Onn dash camera and once it's full, I have to manually delete it every time which is dumb
