I've read the threads about Greentoe - most have been positive. They deal with authorized Canon dealers...

It's just the ' we're telling you from where until you buy it's thing - like the hotel Priceline thing

It just makes me apprehensive. That R5 mark it is calling to me
It's Cardinal Camera that does all the camera deals on there. It's no secret

I purchased a Sony camera and lens recently through Greentoe and had a great experience. Best prices I could find anywhere online and quick shipping after bid was accepted. May require some back and forth and patience on bidding but it's well worth the savings in my opinion.

I've been tracking the refurb R8 for a couple of months. The price is $989 direct through Canon right now (though oos). You can set an in-stock email alert.

The price went as low as $899 a couple weeks before Black Friday.

I bought through Canon just for ease of mind. Got Carepak as well, which is like Apple Care, I guess.

I can vouch for Greentoe. I too was skeptical but I recently purchased a Canon EOS R6 II and two RF lenses. Each item came very quickly. The products were from an authorized Canon dealer who has been in business for decades and everything was brand new. I received a written receipt that I can use for service. My bid price included shipping and sales tax--an extra bonus as I live in NY state. I agree with others that making a return would likely be difficult (haven't tried) but if you are confident about what you're buying, this is a great way to save! If you're open to slightly used equipment mpb.com is a great place to shop too. I had a good experience there selling my used equipment. In one case they upgraded the condition of an item and gave me more back. That's integrity!

Greentoe is a legitmate site that essentially acts as a broker between the consumer and authorized retailers. It's very popular in the OLED community and the price including tax and shipping often makes the deals there the best you'll find.

Has anyone had luck offering prices lower than what's mentioned? I've heard it's hit or miss, but sometimes it goes through.

I got a different seller for my Nikon Z8. Not super fast but is authorized.

Just grabbed a Tamron 28-75 G2 for Sony last week for $549. Cardinal shipped it out the next day. Slow shipping, it will take 9 days to get to me but they were really on the ball. So I was pleased with that. Not even worried about needing a return, if I don't end up wanting it, someone on FB marketplace will give me $600 for it

NGL, the r6II and Nikon Z6II are way ahead of the a74. Can't believe Sony is dragging their feet on the A75. I'd consider switching, but don't forget that Tamron and Sigma aren't making lenses for cannon right now. Or their selection is nowhere near Sony's.

I've had no luck with camera equipment at all. Sadly I have never got a good offer despite my reasonable (known accepted) initial offers.

Sigma and Tamron are making lenses for the crop sensor Canon mirrorless, such as the R7, R10, R50. Sigma's 18-50mm, 10-18mm, and a number of prime lenses. For example, the RF 18-50mm was on sale at B&H for $489.

Cardinal is good. I've had no problems with orders from them, whether through Greentoe or when dealing with them directly. They are definitely worth considering for cameras and lenses.
