Yeah it has a more rich additive package designed for engines working hard towing/hauling molybdenum and boron are higher in addition to detergents

Read a previous deal on the 5qt where someone bought also some 1qt and looked at the label manufactured date on them and it was 5 years old. Just an fyi for anyone buying them to check

I've been using MOBIL 1â„¢ EXTENDED PERFORMANCE for the last 12 years, lately I heard many people switch to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum full synthetic for better protection. Any thoughts?

I've heard that also Pennzoil platinum Is one of the best /the best on the market. There's a YouTuber fordbossme that's done test. I don't think either oil will damage your engine and probably both exceptional oils and at this price point you can't go wrong .I'm not brand loyal . I have 2 vehicles, I look for a sale or clearance and try to stock up. I picked up a dozen of these mobil1 , last oil purchase was Castrol edge on clearance at autozone I got 3 or 4 5's, Another good oil . Previous was a penzoil platinum deal /mail in rebate( I never got the rebate) . None of the oils will damage your engine. Both my vehicles use 6qts I will normally use 5-1/2 oil 1/2qt marvel mystery oil.

this is crazy good deal. I was able to get couple jugs, and combine them with coupons from AA. When I went to pick it up in the store, they subsidize jugs with quarts. I am in 18017 zipcode. Store associates very friendly and helpfull. A+++

I used to be somewhat brand loyal but just because Mobil 1 was the only readily accessible oil that satisfied my vehicle's requirements, and I could roll rebates and such twice a year to bring the cost down. After I sold that one (with 194k miles btw, just changing the oil every 10k), I got into a few SUV's and have just been using the Kirkland oil since. An oil change doesn't even cost like $25 for me using Purolator filters and the kirkland oil, if I buy the oil when it's on sale (around $16 for a 5Q jug) and the filters @ Amazon S&S (maybe $8-9).

What's likely far more important in terms of engine longevity is changing it more frequently than using higher cost disposables, IMHO. The 3 Hondas I've owned since the BMW that went to 194k I just follow the OBDC's and they all wind up being around 9k when it tells me to change the oil so I just do that and haven't had any issues at all.

It actually is a different oil than stock M1. The blend on this particular oil is more oxidation resistant than their standard oils.

ended up grabbing 20 qts. Bunch of separate orders combining new accounts to get the 5 off 20 discount too. Ended up paying about $2.90 per qt. Not as great as the $11 qt deal they had on this, but not too bad. Should be good on our CRV oil for a couple years, or at least until the next deals rolls around
