RP-1200SW 12" 800W is only $50 more on Adorama, I think I'm going for that. Perfect timing for these deals, I'm putting together my home theatre this weekend.
Trust me $200 "subs" are just bass modules. Most are 45hz and above and not subwoofers at all. I've had several of them. This is true subwoofer and worth the money. Closest true subwoofer to your $200.00 is the RSL 10e. It's absolutely the real deal.
$479 for a sub is insane, not worth the price. This should be at $200 top

Two smaller subs trump 1 larger sub in 99% of use cases. I would go with 2 of the12s for $50 more at current prices.
I purchased 2 14s of this series last year for $700 each and they have exceeded expectations.
This is solid advice and I hope people take heed. Always make your end goal at least two subs. If you go with the 16 now, make sure you have room for a second one later on. If not I would set sights for something smaller.
That's not totally correct…. 2 subs will even out the nulls in the room whereas one sub would always have peaks and dips.
Correct, but I was going from the angle of output. One single 16 will slaughter two 10" subs in output and fhz range. Most receivers RC like Dirac will do a decent enough job to smooth the nulls/peaks. My vote is 1 RP-16 now and later add a second. Or dual RP-1400SW

PB = PORTED box = if you're set on SVS, get the PB1000 instead.
