This will run basically any 2 speakers you may have. People on the Internet are just ridiculous idiots. For the few people who have speakers this can't drive, they already know that, and wouldn't be looking at this anyway.

For almost anyone who is looking to buy something for a stereo set-up, this is a great choice for the $. There may be a better choice given your/their specific needs, but this will never be a bad choice at 470.

I will not be buying from Adorama... they refused to price match an 1800$ nikon lens with Amazon. Gave me all sorts of reasons why they 'technically' can't do that.

There's nothing technical about it. Amazon's price was low and they didn't want to bother. That's Adorama!

Nah.......I worked in the electronic business for 10 years and I never did learn how speakers work. Same deal with LED Vs OLED

My point was how they INFLATE power ratings.
A TRUE Two Channel 290 Watt Amp would the the size and weight of a generator.
McIntosh MAC7200 2-Channem [crutchfield.com] 200 Watt Amp / 7-1/2"W x 7-5/8"H x 22"D Weight: 75 lbs.
AND... this Yamaha has 90 extra watts on the McIntosh !!!

290 watts into 2 ohms equal about 73 watts into 8 ohms. Wont run any decent mid fi speakers

Adorama's listing is odd, this "dynamic power" thing as its listed power rating is not how it's advertised elsewhere.... reads like an ad for a car stereo amp. Yamaha's own specs are:

"Minimum RMS Output Power (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz) 100 W + 100 W (0.019% THD)"

Would have no problem at all powering decent mid-fi speakers.
