What's wrong with Ultra 5 125U?> I really can not recommend the Ultra 5 125U.
For the price I would rather get a Ryzen 8845HS.

This is untrue. I got a 14" asus a few months back and was able to upgrade the RAM along with tons of other people in the thread.

Who cares? Most people who is the target audience for this laptop will take build quality over cpu any day. Heck, most would also take the better battery life than cpu as well. Neither of those are are gaming laptop anyways. BTW ideapad series are notorious with broken hinges, good luck with that.

No bro. This is straight cope. The 125U is a piece of garbage compared to the 8840/5 hs. You will definitely notice. Unless you use your laptop to use paint and notepad and maybe occasionally dare to open a browser tab, you will notice.
No you will not notice. Web browsing, word, spreadsheet, YouTube, media consumption, you will not notice.

Browser and website memory usage is getting crazy. I'm frequently running into ram issues at 16GB if I do anything other than have browser open too.

Yes you will lol. This isn't a debate, this is just misinformation. You will absolutely notice a difference. What is wrong with you people.
I have to agree with you on your points. Only 2 P cores on the 125U is pathetic when I have a couple power demanding tasks running in the background. I would much rather take the 8 full cores AMD 8840/8845 has to offer because it's much better at multitasking heavy loads

Yes exactly. These are fundamentally two completely different platforms for different target markets. The 125U is for people who prioritize battery life above all else, and quite literally don't do any actual work. The 8840hs happens to have nearly as good battery life but also has 4x the number of actual cores, not to mention the peak wattage is far higher so your single core performance will also vastly outperform the 125U. You can get real work, even real play done on the 8840/8845hs, games at low/med settings, graphics work, heavy spreadsheet work etc. And again, even basic tasks like opening a browser tab or 2 or 3 while listening to spotify and using outlook, I'll bet you my left nut and 5 of my fingers that the difference is very evident between these two systems.

Completely disingenuous to dismiss the drastic differences smh.

I am running 11th gen intel processor i5-1135g7 with 16gb ram on an x1 carbon and I do web browsing 7-10 tabs, youtube, spotify, spreadsheet, word, no issues whatsoever. Of course, you want to move the needle of my statement by now saying heavy spreadsheet work. No, I don't do heavy spreadsheet work. And again, I never mentioned any gaming. The intel core ultra 5 is 2 generations better than my 11th gen processor. I doubt it will be any worse if not better.
And I will take that bet 100%. 3 tab browsing, outlook and spotify. A layman using that will not notice the difference. I am not talking about you geeks with the stopwatch and benchmark running 24/7 in the background. If a laptop cannot handle that workload with an MSRP of over $500, 95% of them would be returned. I have celeron powered laptops that can handle that (probably the more important thing is at least 16gb ram).
Again, we are talking about the target audience of this laptop. High school students, non-engineering non-computer science college students, moms and dads, business travelers that needs to answer emails and occasionally look at a spreadsheet or word document.

You better hope nothing happens to your right nut.

But the target audience of this laptop will not have a couple of power demanding tasks running in the background. Know your target audience.

Yikes. You're cherry picking from what I wrote. Read the sentence right after my "needle moving" sentence. Ask anyone if they'd prefer to be ripped off or not. Because you're treating the "target audience" of this laptop like they're morons. The value proposition makes little sense for most people, even if they're the most basic of users. Not to mention, put the two notebooks side by side, you will notice immediately the difference in regular tasks like browsing etc. Given the opportunity to do such a comparison, people who otherwise don't care wouldn't have to deal with misleading arguments like yours because the choice would be obvious. You're coping because you think people who do basic tasks don't care about performance, when in reality no one likes a slow ass computer. Guess which of these computers will do everything you ever do on a computer faster than the other? Die on your hill I don't care lol.
I base my argument of real world use and real world use of people I know. This includes 2 kids currently in college (again, non-enginerring, non computer science), CEO of small companies, small shop owners, restaurant owners, bunch of health professionals, etc. All of them would tell you for their use case, they would take battery life over heavy processing power any day and they would all say the processing power of this Intel is more than enough for them.

Step out of your bubble for once and fathom a world that different people have different needs.

This has to be the dumbest conversation to have. Are you going to go on every laptop thread that has a processor no better than this and cr@p on it? That's like 80% of the threads on SD.
