2023 model, so no OLED screen. Good price for what it is, but unless you really want it now I wouldn't buy anything with CES going on and all the new things being announced.
RTX 5070 laptops are starting at $1,299 and aren't coming until March. Unless there's a 30% performance uplift sub $1,000 RTX 4070 laptops are still a decent deal if paired with a good chassis and screen.
That being said I think most people should wait for benchmarks and reviews in March when the new 5000 series laptops land.

My main reason to recommend waiting is the screen and chassis are such a big jump in quality from the 2023 to 2024 zephyrus models that even if you're not planning on buying a 2025 zephyrus, a discounted 2024 model is worth waiting for over these.
Hardware spec wise these are still worth it for the price, even though Nvidia is reporting (that I would be highly skeptical of) that a 5070 can perform at 4090 levels. So if you don't mind paying the recent release premium, the new GPUs might be worth waiting for.

The 5070 vs 4090 performance claim with the 5070 using new DLSS + new Framegen (3 fake frames for 1 real frame) against 4090 with current Framegen (2 fake frames for 1 real frame) performance so the numbers are very misleading; in the keynote Jensen wraps up that segment stating that the performance gains "Impossible without AI", implying it's the new Framegen doing the lifting. The 5070 doesn't have the hardware specs to keep up with the 4090 in raw rasterization.
But I still expect the raw performance uplift to be around 20% based on the specs. You are right about 2024 models tanking in price, we are definitely going to see those go sub $1,000 in February leading into March.

Don't ever trust these companies own comparisons... They are misleading beyond belief

Yeah but anything coming at CES is gonna be twice the price, if not more. This is an excellent deal for a 4070 with excellent build quality. I have the 2023 g14 with 4060, and it's a great laptop besides windows… (I'm a Linux guy) the build quality on the 2024 is better, but in 2023 this had great build for a gaming PC.

I'm more interested to see how the 5060 performs. If it can perform close or better than the 4070 at a lower power draw for the same or lower price it's worth waiting....

I believe the new gen 5070 mobile will come with 12gb of memory so that could be enought of a reason to wait for 5070 mobile vs 4070 mobile units.
What is this statement supposed to mean?
You don't have be "believe" anything. Watch the keynote, the 5070 mobile comes with 8GB VRAM and is still 128-bit bus width so it;s highly likely it won't be more than 20% uplift over 4070 mobile just due to using faster GDDR7 memory.
5070Ti mobile is the actual step up in hardware with 12GB VRAM and 192-bit bus.
$1,299 announcement for the 5070 laptops is what the only real hard number we have for comparison, but even that's before the new tariffs that are supposedly coming that is going to hit us anywhere from 30-68% increase in costs depending on market segment and place of assembly.

You are right I stand corrected It was 5070 ti specs that I was referring to ,the rtx 40 series did not get a TI variant on the mobile side.

Or.. they are overpriced from the start and the market has been conditioned to accept 11% +price hikes each generation...
At this point I'd advise against asus. They have fantastic hardware but all of their drivers and support are terrible. Win11 modern sleep has ruined these things
