This seems like a good price. I bought the 1TB one for 1599 last year and just ended up returning because I didn't want to spend that much on a 4070. I know people say ooh ooh new stuff is coming out soon but it will not be anytime soon with all the delays from nvidia.

Oops nevermind this isn't the OLED version. RIP.

If this isn't the OLED model, that might mean this one doesn't have the RAM soldered to the board. Verify this before buying! I'm definitely not at all sure of this.

Oddly hard to find reviews and measurements on this one. How are thermals and noise?

the top of the keyboard where the exhaust heat escapes is super hot. touching it will get u burned, so dont place anything back there. since i got the intel 12700h older version, it runs hot and battery life is not as good as the amd ones. the fans get noticeably loud and not a smooth sounding fan at higher rpms. this will annoy ppl if u game. for normal workloads, you probably wont be hitting the high fan curves and runs quiet.

This is the older 2023 model (redesign is 2024): old design, old lift-up hinge, and 3200 DDR4 RAM.

I've had issues with Asus products. Mother boards, gpus, zen phones. One of those brands I used to say I trusted by not any more. Same realm as seagate

I compared it to newer Zephyrus and it's like comparing VW to Porsche in terms of build quality. If it was the new one I'd be all over it even with 16gb.

It's an older version, IPS screen, 1920 x 1080… (according to Best Buy's spec). For a 16" monitor, that's quite bit low resolution.

Laptop is a bit thicker and heavier. And the way they designed it, the hot exhaust just blows into the monitor… luckily, it's not an OLED.

SSD is a little on the low end, slow and only 512GB. You should consider just adding the cost of a new SSD $120 and replace it yourself.

Considering that the newer version runs as low as $1400… this isn't that good of a deal.

At this moment, yes and no. Zephyrus G16 same unit but with Core Ultra 9, 1TB SSD was $1400 less than 3 months ago. ASUS - ROG Zephyrus G16 16" OLED QHD 240Hz Gaming Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 9 - 16GB LPDDR5X - NVIDIA RTX 4070 - 1TB SSD - Eclipse Gray

So, the price is ok. You loose out on the screen, cpu, size of SSD, a little of battery degradation, not sure about the speed of the SSD. Also older form factor, a little heavier? So, $1400 seems a better deal. But if this is your budget, it is a good deal.

Anything less than 1TB will be really annoying for a gaming laptop. If you buy this you'll definitely need to upgrade or replace the SSD (if you plan on gaming on it). Simply not enough space for how big AAA games are these days

I have a g15 that's a few years old. It has the WQHD 165hz display. Checked the laptop out in this offer yesterday and to be honest it sucks. I can definitely tell a difference. I wanted to buy this because all the other specs are good for the price.
