Oops nevermind this isn't the OLED version. RIP.
it has a free slot and 16 gigs soldered to the board
the top of the keyboard where the exhaust heat escapes is super hot. touching it will get u burned, so dont place anything back there. since i got the intel 12700h older version, it runs hot and battery life is not as good as the amd ones. the fans get noticeably loud and not a smooth sounding fan at higher rpms. this will annoy ppl if u game. for normal workloads, you probably wont be hitting the high fan curves and runs quiet.

Laptop is a bit thicker and heavier. And the way they designed it, the hot exhaust just blows into the monitor… luckily, it's not an OLED.
SSD is a little on the low end, slow and only 512GB. You should consider just adding the cost of a new SSD $120 and replace it yourself.
Considering that the newer version runs as low as $1400… this isn't that good of a deal.

a g16 2024 with a 4070 is at least 1800 new
At this moment, yes and no. Zephyrus G16 same unit but with Core Ultra 9, 1TB SSD was $1400 less than 3 months ago. ASUS - ROG Zephyrus G16 16" OLED QHD 240Hz Gaming Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 9 - 16GB LPDDR5X - NVIDIA RTX 4070 - 1TB SSD - Eclipse Gray
So, the price is ok. You loose out on the screen, cpu, size of SSD, a little of battery degradation, not sure about the speed of the SSD. Also older form factor, a little heavier? So, $1400 seems a better deal. But if this is your budget, it is a good deal.
