I manager a deposit at a big bank and we have offers like this all the time but to answer your question, we do NOT accept transfers (brokerage, wireless, or any other). a direct deposit has a certain transaction code and that's how we track it. can't speak for us bank but they likely do the same.

The only information I have given them when I get this error is my zip code and I am within two miles of a branch. Tried it with and without the savings account. Tried on different devices and different browsers. Also different links to make sure it wasn't the affiliate links that was screwing it up. The only thing I can think of is that it's my zip code where they are not offering it.

Coming back to update on this - they paid out the bonus for me on 2/06, I finished the deposits on 1/02. Took them about 30 days to process my bonus, but they did do so. This was from the previous offer where it was $400 bonus for over $5000 direct deposit. I used a push from my Schwab Brokerage account.

Pretty easy to obtain. I pushed two deposits from another account and got the bonus. But the hassle was getting my account open-- turns out I needed extra verification due to my credit being frozen. I already had a credit card with them, so after calling, they approved immediately.

I was planning on keeping the account, but apparently US Bank is changing their fees. The account will no longer be free even with a credit card...so I'm probably going to close it since that's the case. I know they hate churning, but that's their problem with them changing the terms of the account almost immediately after I opened.

Can you tell us know the name of the bank from which push was done? And also what was the time interval between two pushes? Was it a month interval or earlier?

you mean , transferring from brokerage account is counted as direct deposit ?

Be aware that effective around mid-June, USBank will increase the monthly fee to $12/month and you can no longer get the fee waived each month by having a USBank credit card. You'll need to keep at $1500 in the account, or have a Direc Direct each month. I got my $450 bonus last Fall, keep $300 balance, and have been getting my month fee waived by having a USBank card. I'm closing my account soon.

Fidelity cash account. I did them one day apart and my bonus showed up 3 business days after the second deposit.

I did this last month and got my $450 as soon as my direct deposit totally to >$8000 was deposited.

I opened up the Smartly credit card too to get the 4% cashback. Their website and app are kinda awful, but it's still a solid offer so I can't complain too much.

Cash is cash. If a bank employs DIRECT DEPOSIT as an excuse to delay/void the promotion, then we should not continue to participate in the scam. It's a good deal as long as you're not in the 5% that get nothing!
