This is the most foul tasting protein I've ever tried. I have a tub I can't bring myself to open.

I want to know what (smart) people think of this vs iso 100.

I’m cranking up my diet and am fully committing to keto carnivore which is why I’m about to switch from iso 100 to this. Yes even a few grams of carbs can make a difference (I think lol)

Will rep for useful info.

Seriously? I like their cookies and cream and chocolate. Vanilla isn’t as good as those 2 but it’s still pretty good IMO. I prefer it over other brands but I only do stick to protein powder that is 2g of carbs or less since I do a strict low carb diet.

Honestly?

Keto/carnivore is largely unsustainable long term. As someone that’s been active due to having a desk job for the last 2 decades the one thing that is most important is sustainability. Keto works. I won’t deny this. However long term it’s not sustainable. Especially if you’re serious about it. You have to be severely antisocial and virtually never go out to sustain it. Additionally long term past 3 months there’s performance issues with activity regime that I’ve personally experienced.

The best regime is what you can sustain and repeat day in and day out. Activities that you can repeat the next day and the day after. I’ve found resistance training and high mileage cardio to be a bad fit with keto especially past your 20s. As strange as it sounds I’ve found more benefits in recovery with moderate protein (~80g+) and a larger portion of complex and simple carbohydrates than I ever did with keto.

I started long distance running in 2024 and I could not run to save my life for the longest time. I largely did resistance only training. But I realized it doesn’t matter if I’m in the 1500 club. I get winded going up and down the stairs. So I switched my regime and focused on training cardio for longer controlled and sustained in specific HR zones and moderate circuit resistance training. Not only did I not lose much muscle mass I’ve lost more weight than I ever did while being on keto. All while still being able to enjoy regular food.

All that to say I still prefer the iso100 as it’s easier on the stomach and absorbs better. I’ve found isopure to have issues with digestion. YMMV

You’re right. Actually their unflavored is some of the best out there. I can just mix it with water and no issues.
Dutch Chocolate is pretty good

This is purely anecdotal, but I figure I'll tell my story in case it helps anyone.

I will never buy this brand again. I've tried many whey protein brands and this was the only one that 1. made me unbelievably itchy all over my body (and it took forever to figure out it was the culprit so I had to experiment with my medications, laundry detergent, etc), and 2. if I didn't mix it with enough cold liquid (almond milk in my case) before adding it to my coffee, it would make my coffee completely gelatinize to the point where it was impossible to even drink out of a mug anymore. It became the exact consistency of Jello. I was horrified the first time this happened but thought it was a fluke until it happened again on the mornings where I was in a hurry.

I found the taste of the creamy vanilla fine but I never had these other issues with any other brand. Been using Optimum Nutrition since then with no problems.

Excess protein is turned into glucose by the body. Whole foods such as steak and unground meats digest slower causing less spikes. Liquid proteins digest rapidly. This is why carnivore low carb diets can still cause high average glucose readings. You would need to be on a high fat lower protein diet to see the benefits of ketosis. When protein is broken down to use for energy there are Alot of waste by products that are not released when carbs and or fats are used for energy comparatively.

A persons protein requirements are relative to their workout load. However unless your in the gym all day trying to body build it's probably much lower then you think. The human body is excellent at recycling protein structures.

Everyone's body reacts differently to the protein loads. It's a case by case Nof1 .

being slick deals whats really important is how many grams of protein are in the tub. divide price by that total grams. How does it compare to other proteins? and isnt whey protein whats left after cheese is made? so it was once like chicken wings.. an unwanted byproduct. but now the world is turned upside down where boston but costs more than loin, wings cost more than breasts, but people would still be happy to eat those except for the meat is murder crowd.... but who go to a cheese makery and turn down the cheddar for s big ole glass of cheese juice? So Sams. has cheddar for $3 a lb=

To calculate the cost per gram of protein in cheese, you’ll need to know how much protein is in one pound of cheese. Let’s assume:
• The cheese contains about 25 grams of protein per 100 grams (common for many cheeses).

Here’s how to calculate it:
1. Convert pounds to grams:
• 1 pound = 453.592 grams.
2. Calculate the total protein in 1 pound:
• Protein per gram of cheese = \frac{25 \, \text{grams}}{100 \, \text{grams}} = 0.25 \, \text{grams of protein per gram of cheese} .
• Total protein in 1 pound = 453.592 \times 0.25 = 113.398 \, \text{grams of protein} .
3. Calculate the cost per gram of protein:
• Cost of 1 pound of cheese = $3.
• Cost per gram of protein = \frac{3}{113.398} \approx 0.0264 dollars per gram of protein.

So, each gram of protein in the cheese costs approximately 2.64 cents.
