Why would you thumb down a deal that clearly says YMMV? Such behavior discourages others from posting items that may be available for some and not for others. Unless of course, you feel $1,999 isn't a good price for a $5,499 item, for those that can find it.

Bought 5 of them for my business all 5 broken with 6 months and no repair shop local that works on them which a waste of money I ended up buying Toro z turn replacements that have good customer service

It's slick cause of the price compared to what it normally sells for, not because of how it compares in your mind to another product

I called and visited multiple Lowe's stores to inspect the mower(s) but also spoke to multiple associates.

I've found most simply don't know what they're talking about (I received incorrect info multiple times), so best to verify with a couple folks and speak to a store manager as well.

Finally, an experienced associate looked in the back and one was still wrapped but needed assembly. Regarding the mowers sitting in the elements for months - if you still want to purchase it, here's my opinion:
  1. Purchase the Lowe's Protection Plan - I did the 3 year (approx $240). Read through the plan (or use ChatGPT/Gemini/ClaudeAI) to plug it in and ask specific questions). I'm sure it's not perfect, but it does have some decent perks AND ultimately is a small fraction of what it would cost if it were at retail price and/or if you need it fixed.
  2. Use a credit card (if you have one) that has benefits like warranty extension and purchase protection (AMEX Platinum is great for these items). Also, YMMV but you can get $50 back on purchases over $200.
  3. Register for the Ego Warranty as well.
It may seem overboard, but this is an expensive purchase and using multiple ways to try and get reimbursement.

Other thoughts:
  • They shut down online ordering this morning - last night I was able to go all the way through then suddenly this AM they shut it off. If you're able to order online - CB rates around 3-4%
  • AMEX Platinum Lowe's $50 back (YMMV)
  • Check your local county/gov't for any rebates. My county offers rebates ranging from $50 - $100+ by filling out a form online (find a free gas mower and recycle it at their centers for even more money back).

This won't be restocking, the new model with a steering wheel is out, assuming they are taking a loss on it, did they ever sold one at full retail? They have been sitting there for several years guy at Lowes told me.
Steering wheel one is $5999
Had one sitting next to this clearance model at my store

These might be more expensive than a Cybertruck pretty soon.

I chatted in with CS when the local store was saying $5500 and CS ordered it, with delivery and setup, for $2k. They said it was the last one so who knows if it's going to happen in the end, but fingers crossed
Might be worth chatting in if you're looking for one

I think Amex excluded batteries in their extended warranty.

Here's my experience...checked brickseek, didn't work. Looked up lowes online, said one in stock nearby, but can't order. Called store and said they have 3. Confirmed price. Went to store to buy. They had one in display, and 3 in the back. Manager took me back to see the 3 in back. He says they're likely more than a year old and have been on display at some point, but all new. He let me pick whichever one so I inspected and picked the best conditioned one. They do have some rust and dusty, I didn't think anything major. Next, he had to locate the batteries and charger. It took them a long time. He says the store staff has been turned over and he's newer to the store himself, so locating the peripherals was difficult. I told him that I'll just pay for it, set up delivery, and if he can't find the batteries, then we'll do a refund over phone. He kindly gave me free delivery for the inconvenience. I also asked him that when he find the batteries to perform and test to make sure everything works so we don't have to waste time with a return. Got a call the next day saying that all batteries and charger was found and that he's will start the process of checking everything. Got another call the following day saying he charged everything, checked basic functions and mower operates as expected. Got a confirmation email with shipping. So overall a good experience with store staff. I used my lowes card. Didn't opt into the lowes warranty because the mower is only 2k and they lowes warranty is only 2-3 years, at 10-15% of this slickdeal. The ego warranty is five years so I figure if I can get 5 years out of this at 2k, then we'll worth it.

Look at few comments above regarding warranty. Few are saying Ego is not providing warranty since it's sold at a discount

It depends, but it's around half the price that it would be normally because it's based on the sale price.

The fact that you can extend it another three years after the original five year warranty expires is worth something to me, but do keep in mind it will not apply to the batteries themselves. They will also refund 30% of the plan price if you never use it, and you get 50% (up to $100) every single year on stuff you need to keep the mower going. The list is usually a lot more plentiful for gas models because you need fluids and spark plugs, belts, etc., whereas for electric it is really just batteries. Still, it's a nice savings that can start to pay for the plan itself.

I did pay for the protection plan because of these elements even though I never pay for this stuff for the reasons listed above. Still, it sucks that Citi removed their extra two years of warranty from their Costco Visa. I would have paid with it on that card and declared 7 years of warranty coverage good enough.

My experience with the Lowes extended protection plan is that it runs concurrently with the manufacturer warranty if any. Ego offers 5yr non battery with 3 on the battery. So a 3 year Lowe's extended plan would end 3 years after purchase. Your receipt would normally show the coverage dates for the extended period.

As per their website it appears that Lowes extended protection plan terms are different between major appliances and general merchandise categories. General merchandise terms coverage extends the manufacturer's warranty. Major appliance coverage runs concurrent with manufacturer's warranty. News to me.

Mine set are Sept 2023. But I also received a set of 12AH batteries instead of 10AH. They had 1 new version with the steering wheel, I think they gave me the battery set from that.
