You can't download new hardware capabilities in an OS update. What do you expect them to do? There's a lot to criticize Apple for. Older phones lacking the necessary hardware to run an AI system locally isn't one of them.

You're honestly better waiting 2 months for the iPhone SE 4. Unless you really need a phone right now. SE4 is reported to be under $500, similar design to the 14 and 8GB of RAM.
