Apple's DACs are much better than these Chinese stuff
I'm pretty sure the the Apple ones are also made in China.

You should have said "Apple's quality control is better."

Read: Everything is made in China. It's about design and quality

Reiterating my statement:

Hate the idea of the item itself doing the DAC. Won't playback in HD.

I bought one of these to use on my iphone 15. The phone recognizes that headphones are plugged in but it is WAY too loud. When you adjust the volume, look at the bar, see the headphone icon that is there, I have to have the volume below that to use this. And I can't use the volume buttons to get the volume that low, I have to tap and drag. I have the Headphone Safety settings on to Reduce Loud Audio but it barely does anything. And what's more (even at the volume set as low as I do) the iphone gives a warning that I'm listening w/ headphone for too long at too high a volume.
If you put the phone to sleep when it wakes it adjusts the volume to 50%, which w/ this adapter plugged in is completely deafening.
Unless someone can recommend a solution, DO NOT buy this for an iphone.

Pro tip- I usually don't care about first party vs third party, but in this case Apple really does make the highest quality (read: audio) for this particular item. And it's cheap enough.
I have both the Apple and this JSAUX, and there is no difference in audio quality. The Apple may be more durable in the long run, but I challenge anyone to identify which is which in blind testing.

... but will it work for Android phones?
Fair question. As others have mention, the Apple dongle will work on Android phones, but by default the max volume will be about 50% quieter. If you listen to your headphones or iems at a low volume, this may work for you. Otherwise, there are some workarounds but they are quite a pain. For android, I would just recommend getting an Anker dongle or maybe this one. You can also go with the Samsung branded one but it's going to cost you more

Same here, although I got JXMOX, which is probably a very similar product But I paid $7 for it. I don't know if it's worth the hassle to return it and get JSAUX just to save $3. : \

For those curious, Adam Savage from Mythbusters did a really cool video comparing a $130 Apple USB C cable to a $13 Amazon cable. They basically X-ray the cables to show the quality differences and do a really great job of breaking down what you are seeing and why it matters:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD5aAd8Oy84

Now, having said that, there's no doubt that Apple's margin's are higher than they probably should be but...it's a cool nerd-out video nonetheless.

Oh! And on that note...here's another good video from the ifixit folks regarding wireless charging and why it sucks. Spoiler: They point out that pretty much the Apple MagSafe chargers and Qi2 certified are the best in regards to efficiency.
