Why do we need whitening(abrasive), when its meant for sensitive teeth? Wouldn't it be counterproductive

Tom's of Maine & Sensodyne, probably the top two ripoff/expensive toothpaste brands.

If you didn't need the travel size, Trader Joe's recently started selling two versions of toothpaste with Potassium Nitrate, one with Fluoride and one without. They are $3.99 for a 6oz tube.

The ingredients in this create an enamel matrix over 'sensitive' aka soft teeth. Flouride does the same on healthy enamel teeth. This works best on softer teeth. It's the same function as washing your car, damaged or not, before you wax. Allowing tree sap or food to build up on your teeth doesn't make sealing it safer or better.
