Also, the poster is newish so might not know this, but "$ off" or "% off" posts aren't done here because they're not useful. It doesn't mean anything, and those offers are often deceptive.

At least one of the prices should be in the title and in the post. So it may be how the post was done, and the fact that it wasted a lot of peoples time, as much as this specific deal

I used deluxe with a home based business and also buying & selling stock.
TT Deluxe may tell you while entering info you should upgrade to Premier. Just ignore and proceed with Deluxe

This Costco offer for TurboTax Deluxe + State at $45 ($56-$11) is essentially the same as the Amazon offer in the link from last year but includes a $10 TurboTax credit (e.g. to e-file state taxes) instead of a $10 gift card.

How much you want to bet that Amazon posts its sale the day Costco's offer goes live.

Don't get sucked into the different levels - Deluxe has all the forms required. The only difference is the higher levels provide more "guidance" and step by step walkthroughs. I've been using Deluxe with stocks and rental property…it's fine.

If Amazon price matches tomorrow (fingers crossed), you should be able to use no-rush credits on the versions without a $10 gift card, but you won't be able to do that if you want to buy the version with a $10 gift card. For me, I've been stockpiling no-rush credits just for this, so I'll take the $10 hit and buy the software only version.

Agree on the lobbying, it's BS. As for complex taxes, FreeTax does not allow you to import from brokerage accounts, that's a deal breaker for me. I used a CPA a few years ago and it was $600. I'm sure it's more now. Every year I keep saying I'm going back to a CPA but I just bought TT from Sam's!

Amazon deal is better. Same price and $10 Amazon GC vs Costco including $10 TurboTax credit which is worthless to people with not state tax or whose state has free e-filing (e.g. NY).

Where are you seeing that Amazon is including a $10 Amazon gift card? I don't see that at all. Deluxe is showing $44.99 for me, no gift card:

While I concur that it's PAINFUL to give TurboTax my $$$, last time I hired a CPA was 6+ years ago, and every year went to them, my bill for CPA kept going up $50-$100... last time I used them it was ~$500. And with even more complex taxes than before, I can't imagine what they'd charge now. This, vs. paying TurboTax a fraction of that. Yes, I know I'm supporting the devil financially, but at least they are charging a LOT less.
