I'm changing my review of The Gilded Age. I liked it at first with a couple of reservations. As the show went on, I liked it less and less and by the end of the Season 1 I couldn't stand it.

Paramount keeps on sucking me in. I got an offer of 99 cents per month for my first 2 months with no commercials so how could I say no to that? Not sure what I'll watch because I've already seen everything that I wanted to. I'm currently on Max watching OZ which is fantastic but only if you skip over the narration which is absolutely awful. I have a week left on my subscription and I'm finishing up Season 4 so I should be able to make it to the end. Deadwood and Chernobyl were two standouts in addition to OZ. I'd recommend doing some follow-up research on Chernobyl because the documentary wasn't entirely accurate but I'd still give it an A+. I didn't like Deadwood that much while I was watching it but after I finished it I realized what a masterpiece it is. Unfortunately, I wasn't thrilled with the Deadwood movie which takes place 10 years after the series ended. Warning: you have to be ok with a lot of bad language in Deadwood and there's a lot of full male nudity in OZ. Both shows are most definitely not PG. I should also mention how much I liked Succession the first time I watched it but I couldn't get into it the second time around.

You should get free showtime with that level on Paramount. Do you ever have quality issues with the streaming of showtime programs on a TV (LG is what we have). No issues on our computers or devices but the TV quality of brand new (as opposed to older, lower quality filmed) shows is just so bad. It is so distracting that I cant tell if the new Dexter is bad (as in the content is bad) or if its just that the streaming quality is so distractingly bad it takes you out of it.

I only watch on my laptop. No quality issues. I tried to watch Dexter but I couldn't get into it. There was something about the actor that I didn't like. It's weird because I'm a huge fan of hard boiled crime shows.

Now Max wants me back at half price for 6 months. The only streaming service that doesn't care if I come back is Netflix. Netflix has the Canelo vs Crawford fight on Sept 13 so I'll definitely be back for that. I'm sure that it will be better than the Jake Paul vs Tyson fiasco. My plan for this month was to watch Yellowstone on Peacock. I've never seen it but with all of these offers Yellowstone has to take a back seat. I finally finished Season 4 of OZ. It went on way too long. 16 episodes. I couldn't wait for it to end. Hopefully, Season 5 is better. Season 4 was the worst one so far.

I finished OZ. I hated the narration. It was cringe and I don't need to be preached to. A lot of the show was completely unrealistic like the old guy who digs mile long tunnels with his spoon. There was way too much male full frontal nudity and sex scenes. Season 4 dragged on forever and by the end of Season 6 I was glad it was over so I could watch something else. To be fair, parts of it were really good and if you like Law and Order a lot of the same actors were in OZ. I'm going to give OZ a D rating because the narration annoyed me so much. Even after the narrator died, he still kept on talking and it seemed like he was doing his comedy bit every 5 minutes. It wasn't funny and he had nothing interesting to say. The other thing that bugged me about OZ is that you have 2 inmates that don't like each other. The have an incident and both go into the hole. They come out and somebody gets killed and the warden is surprised by it. I just summed up the whole show. The warden makes the same mistakes for 6 years but it's like everything is a big mystery to him. Unfortunately, it's not a mystery to the audience. Oh, the prisoners spent a lot of time watching a children's show with a really hot blonde doing exercises. There actually was a show like that in the 90's but it was on a Spanish station. It must've been an inside joke or something to include it on OZ.

HBO, right? I'm totally out of the loop because my husband canceled HBO and I stopped working so I just watch Hulu and Netflix. Is OZ an older show?

My brain is so shot. I forget what I did with Max and Paramount Plus/Showtime. I think I did the 99 cents a month offer with Paramount and passed on half off on Max because I decided to not watch Succession again. I did the 99 cents offer for Hulu a year ago but I couldn't stand the constant commercials so I had to cancel. Max is worth it just for Chernobyl. There's a YT channel (I think it's called History Buff) that analyzes the accuracy of tv documentaries and I'd recommend watching their video on Chernobyl to get a balanced perspective (it's an hour long). The last episode of the tv documentary is fantastic and I had to watch it 3 times to try to understand the nuclear info but then I found out that the trial didn't actually happen that way. I'd still give the Chernobyl documentary an A+. The special effects are the best I've ever seen. They were able to recreate the nuclear explosion like you were there. You know, there was a nuclear accident in the hills above the San Fernando Valley in 1959. It was worse than 3 Mile Island but to this day the government denies that it happened. They actually tried to build a housing development on the contaminated land until protestors shut it down. There's a park for little kids right next to the nuclear plant. I went up there once to check things out but the security guards chased me away. The view of the SF Valley from up there is beyond amazing. I've always wanted to climb the hill behind the Spahn Ranch (where Charles Manson lived) and see the view of the SF Valley. It would probably be a better view than from the nuclear plant. They filmed a lot of westerns like Bonanza at the Spahn Ranch and it has some incredible giant rocks and tunnels. The Spahn Ranch is very close to the nuclear plant that doesn't exist. Some people say that the water supply is contaminated from the nuclear accident. Susan Atkins died of brain cancer but who's to say that it's related to the Spahn Ranch. Unfortunately, when you talk to people who live in that area, everybody has a horrible cancer story to tell about someone in their family. It's unimaginable what could happen if there was another nuclear accident up there. Wow, I got way off topic. The Santa Susanna Field Lab and Charles Manson are two topics that I could talk about all day. Back to OZ. It ran on HBO from 1997 to 2003. They released an OZ coffee table book in 2003 and they did a cast signing for the book at The Grove in Beverly Hills. I was invited to the green room and I got to hang out with the cast for a little bit but I didn't know who anybody was. It's too bad because there were some great acting performances in OZ and there are a lot of questions that I would've had for them if I had seen the show. I'll have to look at the signatures in my book to see who was there but it's packed away in storage with all of my other books.

I watched Opus to see what Juliette Lewis is doing after walking out on Yellowjackets and ruining what could've been a great show. Opus is an absolute disaster and a brain-dead move for Lewis. A reclusive pop star from the 90's decides to put out a new album but he's turned into a mass murderer and he's killing the journalists that he invited to his compound to preview the album. The movie could've been a lot better than it was but the script didn't make any sense and the actors phoned in their performances. Juilette Lewis just stands there and looks dumb in every scene she's in. There are a couple of one-liners that you'll either find funny or will piss you off depending on your politics. No stars.

I have never been a fan of Julliette Lewis. She's one of those famous people who have bugged me for absolutely no reason.

Can someone start a thread where we just post the best deals on Coke and Pepsi 12-packs for the week?

I'm not up to be around to start a new thread and keep it managed, but I will say that Dollar General has the best deals on Coke almost every week. This week, for example, they have 3 12 packs for $16 with a digital coupon for $2 off. Combine that net $14 with $11 more on a Saturday and add the $5/$25 coupon. Most of their grocery prices are comparable and/or lower than many of the grocery stores.

An added bonus for Dollar General shopping is that most days you will get a $5/$25 coupon at the bottom of your receipt. While you can't combine the coupons in one transaction, the stores around me don't care if I do one transaction and then come back in and do another.

I do my 12-pack soda deals at Vons. Last year I could get Pepsi for $2 but this year it's been $3 or $4. Vons has the 2 liter Pepsi on sale for $1. Tomorrow is the last day. You have to clip the $1 dq.

Juliette Lewis was terrific in YJ. She played Nat as an adult and when she quit they decided to kill off her character and that changed everything about the show. I think that Nat was supposed to be the one who made it but instead her life was filled with drug addiction and rehab and it was really sad. Sophie Thatcher did such a good job of playing young Nat and then you see her 25 years later as Juliette Lewis and it's a real jolt. You wonder what happened but we'll never know because Juliette Lewis quit the show. She played adult Nat to perfection and you could see all of the pain and hurt that she's been thru. I get really pissed off thinking about her leaving. It's just a tv show not real life but to leave such a great role in YJ to do Opus is insane.

The Vegas Planet Hollywood used to have movie artifacts in their rooms (no idea if this is still true). We love From Dusk Until Dawn and asked if they had a room themed with that movie. We got it! Among the props in our room, Juliette Lewis' dress and panties encased in a table. LOL

Best this week for cokes is Walgreens. Buy 2 get 2 free. Works out to just over $5 a 12 pack.
