i think the essential factor to a lot of people is the kindle screen.

im not a heavy reader so screen doesn't matter much to me. my issue is that I can only read for 5 min max on my mac/iphone/ipad, and then get easily distracted by other apps/alerts. but i can focus on reading when using kindle. i think im probably not alone. although i prefer 7" screen size.

for people who take notes frequently while reading, i agree this is a good option.

I've been using my Scribe daily since it came out. I love it. I take notes, draw, and mostly read. I would say if you are looking for an e-reader first and a note-taking device 2nd, this is it. The e-reader stuff has honestly been great with all the upgrades. I can't go back to reading without having the ability to write on pages and annotate.

Most I think share this opinion….If you want to read kindle books or you need a backlight, go scribe. If not, go remarkable 2.

If you can live without a backlight and willing to pay a bit more, imo the best of both worlds is supernote since it has 1. A top tier user interface for writing (scribe does not have this) 2. 300ppi screen (rm2 does not have this) 3. Kindle app (rm2 does not have this)

I was never a reader but a hand full of books in high school, college. Finally bought a kindle 20years later because I go camping and there's no reliable charging. Kindle was my answer to having an amazing battery life and also LIGHT on the pack. I tried reading on phone and ipad but those things are so heavy and those light emitting screens were draining to the battery and to my eyes.

The scribe for those who wants to take notes, but it's kind of limited. I rather take notes on an ipad if I need a quick snap shot of someone's slide if it's unavailable ahead of time. (Stealing trade secrets =p) and the apple pencil and iOS apps for note taking is the best.

Two questions for Scribe owners: (1) What's the workflow if you annotate a page of a DRMed textbook, but then need those notes exported... Can you send yourself a PDF and, if so, does said PDF still contain the base textbook page or diagram you annotated? (2) What is your opinion of the lasso tool functionality and notes library management on this vs Remarkable vs Boox? The biggest advantage of digital notes to me is being able to lasso sections of a notes page and move them around or resize them as you add to the notes page or diagram. Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

Basically the same. But the newer pen has a more realistic (softer) eraser.

My son has myopia and he reads a lot on kindle. Do I need to divert him more to books?

My wife and daughter are avid readers. They love e ink bc it's like a book and doesn't have the harsh light of a traditional tablet display.

For folks with something like ADHD, a simple device that's good for only reading really helps to remain focused. General purpose tablets have way too many distractions ime.

I like the Scribe with the larger screen. Makes reviewing clinical reports in PDF format a lot easier.

This is correct. Its heavier on the hand when you walk. I have this kindle scribe 1st gen. I love it. Its not perfect, there are some bugs here and there but for reading, it works well. Especially for reading PDF document. Since its big just like a "letter" paper so its suitable for reading document.

I wish they had color soft scribe. That is what I'm trying to wait for. Who knows if it will ever exist though.

It took me a few days, but I was able to get Best Buy to price match this Slickdeal for a 2024 model. I got both the 16GB 2024 model for $239.99 and the 64GB model in green for $349.99 (had to convince them I wanted same day local pickup, and the green was available whereas the tungsten wasn't). This was accomplished by using the "Like New" 2022 Kindle Scribe slickdeal. It didn't work the last few days because Best Buy still had the old 2022 32GB model on their website, but now that it has been removed, they price matched with the newest models. Though extremely unlikely, I was able to accomplish this. There was no refund difference; they sent me a link/invoice with the price match already completed, and I just had to pay.
