This thing is a million times better than those usb thumb drives or microsd cards.
They are actually also very small and easy to carry around, I have a few of them and love them.
I've pretty much abandoned all my usb sticks, no matter how high end they are, they cannot even touch the perormance and reliability of a real ssd like this one.

I ordered the X9 Pro and while it's physically smaller than the Samsung T7, I think I prefer the full metal body of the Samsung, it just feels better built. And the pricing and performance are similar between the two. Also the Samsung includes a USBA and USBC cable, whereas this only includes an even shorter USBC.

I didn't know anyone tried to compare a thumb drive or SD card to an SSD. That's like comparing my Camry to a 911 and saying "the Camry cannot touch the performance of a real sports car."

I'm still waiting on my X9 Pro 2TB from Amazon's deal on this 2 weeks ago. My delivery date is still Jan 29-Feb 1, but if I order now (for the same price) I can get it in 2 days. How the hell does that work!?
It depends on the seller. It's likely that when you purchased it before it was a third party seller (with their own unique logistics) whereas the current deal is actually being sold by Amazon and sitting in one of their Prime warehouses.

So I store my backup movie collection on my a standard HDD. I replaced them every 5 years. These spin 24/7 on my jellyfin movie server. Would updating to something like this be the way to go? Obviously way faster but with they last, say, 10 years?

Zero value moving your movies to SSD for a jellyfin server. Don't do it. And they spin down when not being accessed.

I need to increase my drive size and figured this would be the time to finally go SSD. Not worth it in your opinion?

No, $/TB is significantly higher for no perceptible gain. For contiguous file access and large file storage, stick with spindles. If you were doing NLE 4k video production, that'd be different.

Grab two of these and mirror them - assuming your library is <12TB.

I've had 3 running without issue for a year now.

You can get the SSD to use as a cache drive if you don't already have one. Otherwise just use a regular NAS HDD for the movies

Yeah my computer is already SSD. I was just thinking about going 100% SSD at this point. I'm kinda over spin up drives at this point

this deal seems good, but what are your thoughts on the # of recent (a bunch since November) amazon reviews citing drive failure/corruption? I've never owned one of these
these have not failed, however, they disconnect randomly on my macbook... Upgraded from a samsung T7 for better value, totally regret. Maybe better luck on windows, not so great on mac.

I had the same question and found this in the Amazon reviews - yes for XBox, no for PS5 - "purchased this for my Xbox series x console. This only came with a USB c to USB c cable. Docking one star for not having versatility of being USB A compatible without purchasing an extra cable separately but otherwise this would have been perfect."
From what I read, you actually need the card storage devices that actually go in the console to play the x/s games. You can play everything else off the externals. I got one for my old games and the lesser quality ones. You can move them over to the external when you arent using them.

No. Board is not a 22XX style drive.

If Mylio is important for you, then buy it from amazon. Couple of weeks when it was on deal on both amazon and bestbuy, I bought it from BB. After unpacking and I did not see any code for Mylio. When I chatted with Crucial CS, I was told this is available only for drives sold on Amazon.
Hmmm... What is the Mylio deal? Is it just a trial?

GPT says the X9 Pro has a TLC (Triple-Layer Cell) NAND Type. This is notch above the base X9 which has a QLC (Quad-Layer Cell) NAND type. NAND affects Performance, Endurance and Cost. Aside from the hardware encryption, casing and NAND type, is this going to be durable drive for photographic read/writes?
