So, Costco online prices are about 15-20% higher than in store and Instacart is even higher than whatever the retailer charges. Any insight on actual savings here?

I wish Costco did something like Walmart+. That would be a game changer
I'm not sure about your area but the Costco Instacart prices in our area are around 9.3% higher than the actual store prices. So if you get this deal and combine it with discounted Instacart gift cards ($100 for $80), you will have decent amount of savings even after considering instacart fee and tips. To me this deal is a no brainer if you combine with the discount gift cards. These savings are in addition to your time savings as well as mileage savings.
I don't think that's true — everything is marked up on both sameday site and instacart. I'd love to be proven wrong though — what items do you see that aren't? (Your point about time and gas stands though!)

Not everything at Costco is up charged. How much is 1hour of your time plus gas worth?

1. Costco Prices in sameday ( via instacart) is typically around 10%-20% additional.
2. However, you have to think that Costco sells $100 instacart gift card at the same time.
3. you can purchase max 2 - $100 GCs from costco.com per each week.
Website says 2 per member, but seems system gives no fark if you purchase per week.
https://www.costco.com/instacart-...35882.html
4. if you are purchasing in store, its really no limitation
( you can purchase 2 per transaction, but you can purchase multiple times and store worker seems they never give fark)
5. so all-in-all with 15%~20% periodic coupon, you are actually save more money PLUS, you will get the item to your door.
like me, Store is like 20 miles away, so even with the tips giving to the driver it is actually worth it
( no waiting in line, no need to drive 40mile ( rough 1.5~2gal gas wasted), and no need to spend time in store.)

By the way.
I have to note this,
your left over balance will stay on sameday.cotso.com website.
Your left over balance will not cross workedd with instacart.com or app.
It seems bit weird as both website and apps are running under instacart,
but your balance and purchases are not shared each other.
So, you may end up leave $50 left over in sameday website and use on next discount deal

It depends relative to the price of the item. In my experience it's one to a few dollars markup per item.

Read somewhere on reddit, that using too many discounted instacart GCs, instacart will permanently ban. Is that true?

Theyre getting stricter on the quantity and frequency you can buy them. I just had my order canceled because I purchased a couple of them less then two weeks ago. It used to be limited to once per week, now it states "Limit of 1 Transaction, with a Maximum of 2 Units Per Membership Every 14 Days"

If instacart wants to ban gift cards, why are they selling them in first place? If they start banning, they would loose many customers.

Yes and it is not the same . Few are cheaper in instacart vs Costco same day . And vice versa . But both are mostly higher than Costco store prices.
Costco same day works out cheaper if you don't have instacart plus !
