I bought 2 sets at $19.98 and ended up returning them both. The ratchet is nearly impossible to get out of the case, and the screwdriver handle isn't much easier. The ratchets in both of mine were very poor quality and they both would switch directions while in use. I know it's now only $10 ( I'm actually tempted to try my luck again) but I would set your expectations appropriately.

I took it apart and these ratchets are not lubricated. What you need to do is to buy superlube. Take apart the gearing mechanism, elongate the little spring, and lubricate all the gears. It works fine once it's put back together. I know it's a hassle, but I actually do this to my gear wrench tools also.

OK guys. I thought the comments about how hard it is to get the ratchet out maybe were insane, but I just got mine and it's true -- it's a huge pain to get it out!

However once you do get it out the first time, I find that if you replace the ratchet 'upside-down' -- i.e. with the anvil up/facing you, you can then 'swipe' the anvil to the side with your thumb and the ratchet will pop out of the clips. Then you can just lift it out.

You're welcome....

Won't help with the sockets but I suppose you might be able to crank most of them (all but the tiniest) to the side with the spinner tip and pop those out.

In mine, most of them can be pulled with a good finger pinch. With the others I can generally move the surrounding one(s) out of the way to get a better grip, or lever it a bit with the spinner.

Bought two in store a little while ago. As others have stated, they rang up at $20 each. Two different associates gave me a hard time about honoring the $10 price because I didn't order online. I handed them my phone with the product page displayed and said: "Please show me where it says price only valid if ordered online." They relented, but you would have thought they were paying for the discounts personally.

I hate this new "must order online" gotcha retailers are playing.

Regarding the product: Nice assortment, quality is acceptable. As everyone reports, the tools are VERY difficult to get out of the set. Not something you'd want to try in poor iight, with cold fingers, roadside, etc. I'll take a Dremel with a grinding bit to clean up that issue.

Just got this set. Not bad for $10. While I can do most stuff with my current 3/8 set, there are times 1/4" Drive is handy. I can see the ratchet wearing out if you use it often but its ok for occasional use. The ratchet's sockets release is a bit tricky but functional (not smooth / need to mess with it for a sec).

Question for those that got this set: there are 2 "bit couplers" (upper left side on the base of the tool set). The top one is for the driver bits. What is the bottom "bit coupler" used for? It is very small and does not seem to fit any of the other bits I have in this or any other set of bits I own.

Why do you care? Why do you want everybody in the same club as you're in? If you feel like $10 is better spent on a meal, go stuff your face and leave everyone else alone. Also, have you ever done dash work? Had to remove body panels/splash guards? Change a battery? Do you know how heavy, cumbersome, and awkward a 3/8 ratchet gets when removing dozens of small fasteners. Do you even realize that there are things other than vehicles that have nuts and bolts?
