Holding the line here.

Actually mostly leaning toward switching to freetaxusa this year. Not going to get into detail, but previously I needed some forms they didn't support, and starting this year, I have a fairly "normal" return, so now it makes more sense to at least give it a shot.

$34.99 late January 2024 with $20 GC. I got the $20 Chipotle.

So $14.99 for HRB.

Since this involves buying a gift card, you can't pay with New Egg's gift card.

Note: check compatibility with your OS, before buying & find out it wont load. I use Tax Slayer, cause their program is online & I just input my digits from the tax forms, without having load software on computer.

Is this a DIY type ? Or can I work with some specialist to do my tax with this?
This product, and its competitors, are for people who do their own taxes. In my opinion, if you are going to pay an accountant to do your taxes, you can just take them your forms like W2, 1099, etc. They won't bother with using your program or calculations. They all have their own software.

However, I had a friend who would do his own using software like this to make sure he was ready with everything to meet the accountant, and maybe to double check the accountant. If you are nervous about doing it yourself this year, but intend to do your own taxes in the future, then I could see buying this this year to do it yourself just to compare against the accountant's output to gain confidence for next year on your own.

I must be getting lax, a 10-15% spread that amounts to less than I tip for Dinner at a Diner doesn't matter to me.
Now 10-15% difference when buying a car, a house, central A/C system... That makes a difference to me.
BTW... How much per hour do you make? Does *spending* the TIME (minutes) to remember to check on next lowest price come near $2.50 or $3.00? Or would that time & energy be better spent at the gym, movies, s@x, conversation, work??
I think your SD card is going to get revoked. That aside, this price (effectively $20) is 33% higher than last year's (effectively $15). Inflation has been increasing the price of every product, but other than eggs, it has been likely less than 33%. Imagine if every product got 33% more expensive year over year. Have your raises been keeping up at that rate?

HOLD THE LINE. STAND FIRM, EVERYONE.

Here is my past history from NewEgg, for Deluxe + State:
2022: $24.99 + $15GC = net $9.99, purchased 2/17/22
2023: $24.99 + $10GC = net $14.99, purchased 3/3/23
2024: $27.99 + $20GC = net $7.99, purchased 1/5/24
This deal: $39.99 + $20GC = net $19.99

No reason to bite on this yet. My tax statements from my brokerage don't even come out until the end of February. I'm in at around $20 with no coupons or gift cards. I just don't want to be bothered with that stuff.
