FYI, this unit does not have Apple Carplay or Android Auto. That's a deal killer for me but I'm sure there are those that don't use those features.

Maybe I'm missing something but, at a glance, I'm not sure why this is still so expensive. If anyone actually knows why and doesn't mind helping to share some insight about what qualities/features might justify this price point without Apple Carplay or Android Auto, I'm down to learn something new today.

*EDIT*: At time of posting, they have open box: 'good' units available pickup near me for $57. YMMV

I honestly can't imagine a single user that wouldn't want to use Android Auto / Apple CarPlay.
Even my 73 year old Dad is using CarPlay lol
So yeah, I can't really see a use case for this unless you have a flip phone.

No Carplay, no bueno. Get a cheap Chinese Android stereo from Amazon or eBay for your car model. It will include the harness and bracket for your model for less than $100. They also support steering wheel controls out of the box.
You'll want the 9" or 10" version, which are basically the same thing. Also get one with at least 2GB RAM.
You can customize everything about them with your own launcher, and the built-in amps are surprisingly strong. Way better than the basic 2017 Honda head unit.

I purchased the Pioneer DMH-160BT with Car Play/Android Auto last year to replace my older Pioneer AVH-210EX.Oh, boy did I regretted. Next day went back to my older receiver, these newer Pioneers are a POS, they overheat and stop working, terrible sound quality, interface is somehow limited, also the amount of songs or files from the USB drive is limited to 10,000, even though it supports NTFS. One USB port, so you can only chose between CarPlay or USB media. Terrible experience.

I don't get it. It's 2025, all HU should have Apple carplay or Android auto. Otherwise, what's the point?

Why does everyone love Android Auto / Apple Carplay so much? Mind you it's been years since I tried using them? But at the time it was the most annoying limiting thing ever.

The user experience is phenomenal.
Example: I step into my car and start, automatically my google maps app screen in phone is displayed on the car media screen.
I don't have to type the destination address.

Similarly, calls, chat messages , music apps are well integrated.

I travel a lot and having a consistent interface on the rental cars is a game changer

I have to agree, I've never used them on any of my headunits. I've always controlled them with my device. They were always lacking features from the app.

I bought one of those cheap standalone screens that connect to my car through aux and it sounds and looks amazing. And it supports wireless android auto and carplay out of the box. It sits on my dash, easily viable for maps and pandora, but doesn't obstruct my vision. I can't believe they would charge this much for this without android auto.

Android auto is super annoying not sure why anyone likes it. I got a newer pioneer and its been a solid deck.

For me, it's awesome. I step into my car and turn it on, and instantly, my music or audiobook picks up where it left off, and my maps comes up fast to show me the best routes and avoid accidents. I don't even have to take my phone out of my pocket. Pretty convenient to me.

2V preouts = NO (this only applies if you're using an aftermarket amplifier)
22w x 4 is pretty good (14w according to CTA)
I've never tried "weblink", but it appears to be a wired solution to projecting applications from your phone to the head unit.
Personally, I rather just buy a cheap tablet and mount and use "headunit reloaded"

what's the model number of your standalone screen? More goes into a head unit than android auto like RCA preouts for people with aftermarket amplifiers, even though these are only 2V
