My production pfsenses have like 20GB of storage... lol 500GB is massive.
I mean, where do buy a 20GB drive these days? lol Just saying, $35 is a nice price point for a boot drive from a reputable manufacturer. Guess it could go as low as $20 for an SSD? Think I last saw an Orico SSD for $20? But Orico vs Seagate? Should be an easy choice.

500gb drive is still very usable, if you're not trying to stick a bunch of 100gb+ games on it. I'm more concerned about the phison E18 firmware issues and no apparent action from Seagate to update their devices. (updated firmware for the phison controller(s) already exists... just waiting on Seagate to get off their asses and incorporate it, it looks like.)

Can I just buy the skin / heatsink / whatever instead of the memory itself? I love the Star Wars branding but I don't need this drive.

since you can get 2tb for 100 this doesnt seem like a good deal
This is an unfair comparison primarily because of the heat sink. A quarter of $100 is $25, and a heatsink might cost you $10, this is a custom one so probably more but let's stick with $10, so $25+$10 is... hey look $35 just like it says! The thing is a heat sink for a 2tb ssd isn't 4x the cost so you can just use that to determine price, and that's before you even compare the quality of the memory used

yeah i'd really like to know if i can remove the heatsink from the drive if the drive itself dies cause it looks cool and it would be a shame if i can't

There are no SLC (or even MLC) SSDs left on the consumer market. I can almost guarantee it was advertising the pSLC cache, which nearly all consumer SSDs now have.

Show me a current deal with 2TB drive WITH DRAM for $100, I'll wait. Unlike 95% of cheap SSD deals lately, this one actually does have DRAM from what I can gather on Google.

The drive looks pretty cool, I enjoyed The Mandalorian so I knew right away what I was looking at in the design. I am concerned at some of the reviews saying this drive died quickly, however.

Edit: promo code works on up to 3 drives.
Those drives cant stop blaster fire. I cry false advertising.
