How is this for just light browsing and watching YouTube? I need to get a new laptop for an older relative who is bad with tech; currently has a 3-year-old refurb Acer Chromebook that is too slow to be useful even for browsing. What typically lasts longer, a cheap PC or Chromebook?

More than enough, it'll easily last you a few years. i've using an HP that i bought 3 months ago with 8gb and a cpu with 10k rank, it works fine for youtube, netflix etc multiple windows. this cpu's rank is 13k (basically 30% more power), plus you can add RAM down the road to improve performance.

Not a bad deal and reasonable purchase. Different consumer philosophy, but imo used business laptop is the better option to go considering this is already 2 or 3 gen older tech and pretty low quality tier model of the brand. https://www.ebay.com/itm/15662998...R9b95JiTZQ

This reply is a bit misleading with the 30% more power benchmark as benchmark score does not correlate linearly with user experience in speed if a specific task/program is not used. Also, a page taking 1 second to load vs 0.7s is not too noticeable. Ram quantity and SSD quality is a bit more important after meeting a baseline speed for general use. At this pricepoint, a good choice in chromebook will have better durability and speed imo. I thought this ideapad 1i model line had soldered ram. Unsure if there is an upgrade slot.

I will agree this laptop is probably fine for your use.

Is it safe to assume I could not charge my Airpods with the USB-C?

Yes, you can... it has USB type A and Type C - they can both charge devices.

Purchased this yesterday.
Great laptop, no frils with everything you need + (touch, full keyboard +numberpad, large battery 7hrs'ish', graphocs card, good speakers).
No backlit keyboard, no Windows hello (face unlock), material used is more on the budget side unlike its $$$ Lenovo siblings metal'ish' feel.
Minimal bloatware to remove upon setup.
Hinge lays flat (for bedtime use) but doesn't fold.

My biggest gripe is that it uses the Lenovo 45Watt 1.2mm plug and cannot charge via type C.

Its a Solid deal for fullsize touch laptop.. not embarrassing to use in public and it's a subtle deep dark matte blue
Hope this helps

Thanks - Just to confirm you can't charge with the type C USB - Correct?

Does anybody have a problem with WiFi turning off randomly and even the icon to select network disappears and the only way to get it back is by turning the airplane mode on and then switching it off?
