You are experiencing the infamous SW bug that was plaguing all the 2021 PAC AVRs until recently. The only difference is that those AVRs that were getting DLBM/DLBC via recent firmware had the bug fixed (i.e. RZ50 and DRX 5.4). There's a workaround here:
https://www.avsforum.com/posts/61244181/

Hopefully, that post gets you closer to what you expect! It's not a clean fix like the next tier up AVRs but at least it has been seen and addressed by others!

I bought this when the last deal was posted. I'm new to Dirac Live and it's been a confusing experience coming from Audyssey. The mobile app is buggy and constantly disconnects. I only had success using it with a laptop. I did numerous measurements on numerous volumes and still can't get any bass coming from my sub. Dialogue is hard to hear. I have to raise the center channel +10 to hear anything. Dirac always sets it at -2. There doesn't seem to be a dynamic volume option like I had on my Denon S750H which is kind of a bummer. That came in handy for listening at low volumes. The night mode on the Integra doesn't seem to do anything. Minor gripe, the front display only shows what input it's on, not what sound format is being played. Maybe I need to tinker with it more but I've been underwhelmed by it so far.

In my opinion the laptop is the way it should be done

Sounds like you didnt set your speaker configuration BEFORE you ran Dirac
On some brands this will give you an immediate error message though I dont know if that is the way the Integra/Onkyo units perform and if it will let you go forward
I knew this part from the Arcam set up and just did it out of habit when I set up my RZ50

Dirac is not as initiative as the Asian room correction systems
But after you do it once its not that bad and the good news, IMO, is that it doesnt need to be tweaked constantly like I personally had to do with Audyssey

Fortunately, I bought my first Dirac equipped unit from an independent dealer who stepped me through the process

As for this display you mention you have to buy higher up in the model line for that feature.

I went with the rz50 for $750 because I like the look better and expected that the larger form factor would be better for hear dispersion. But I tend to keep my gear fit a while and if I'm going to be looking at this thing every day, it's worth the extra $$.

Haven't added an amp yet but I live in an apartment so...
Please let us know where you were able to buy the RZ50 for $750?

Was it brand new, from an authorized dealer? If so, do you have a link you can share? That price deserves to be a front page deal!

I also like the larger chassis and look and feel of the Onkyo as well. It's also a bit more future proof.

This was at BF from Adorama. I had ordered the Integra at one point, cancelled and went with Onkyo instead.

TY

Hopefully they'll have that sale again. They're at $849 right now.

Have you had any audio / video issues with the receiver yet or has it worked well?

I was watching this post for a while because I have a Kenwood THX receiver from 1999 (pre-HDMI, etc...) that is starting to give up the ghost. There seemed to be some concerns that the weight of this unit felt so light at 24.3 lbs. I wondered if it was because they're using a different kind of transformer inside, or it is Class D amplification. Has anyone taken the cover off in order to determine what made this unit so light compared to typical HT receiver?

No, not Class D.

If you want pics of the insides, here you go:

I own the RZ50 and based on what I know about the Integra I would not pay the difference...unless you really think you will expand to 11.2 and will eventually go with an external amp

I paid $550 for the RZ50 at a Best Buy outlet store about a year ago as a whim purchase

I am using it for a 5.1 system running bookshelves and a single sub in a smaller/midsize room
For the price..the performance is phenomenal

I really doubt there is much if any difference in the internal components of the Onkyo and Integra units...similar to the Denon versus Marantz units

The 5 year warranty is nice though

THX loudness plus cannot be used with Dirac engaged
At $550 for a RZ50, I agree, but that's an exceptional price (definitely a Slick Deal). I haven't been actively looking recently, but when I was previously typical low price for RZ50 is in the $750-$800. I was upgrading from a RZ830 and ended up going NR7100 for $525 because I couldn't find a RZ50 below $600. Overall I'm happy with my choice as realistically, I'd never use preouts or go beyond my current 5.2.4 setup, but I would have definitely gone RZ50 at $550 if I saw it.

The weight of a component says literally nothing about its performance. A ton of audio gear actually have added weights because people believe silly things.

From my post in the previous thread:

Just spotted an open-box excellent RZ50 at BB for $530 so I quickly snagged it. The only option was shipping so will be curious to see what I end up with. This Integra is still my backup plan.
Well that RZ50 came in Monday and I just took it to BB unopened so they could witness the unboxing. While it had the factory box and even all the accessories, it did not have the factory foam packaging material. Frown So the unit wouldn't even turn on -- it made some strange clicking noises when one tried (and the standby light went off) but nothing lit up on the display. I got my money back and will continue watching this Integra -- hoping it drops another $100 because Adorama still has a TON of stock!

Using a similar amp technology...in this case type AB.....I have never seen a situation where the added weight didnt translate to a beefier amp/power supply of the unit

if you have some examples where this is not the case I would certainly like to know them

One can go though years of Audioholics all channels driven tests and see a direct correlation in product weight and amp all channels driven tests

yes..LOL..that buy was a complete whim
Was working in the Cincinnati area for a couple of days , walked in saw the RZ550 for $550
It was perfect...box had been opened but looked like nothing had ever been pulled out.
In my opinion, much better unit sonically than the Marantz 7015 it replaced

Its runs a 5.1 system in a mid size room and I think its phenomenal for that

Correlation isn't causation. Weight doesn't tell about quality. Plenty of light DACs weighing in at ounces will outperform DACs weighing 20 times more, no issue. Beefier hardware can be designed right or wrong, but a quality class D amp will give more power and performance at less weight, and there's no reason to think that the best AB is the heaviest AB.

Perhaps I misunderstood your statement...it seems you are speaking preferences which means opinions
That is not what I took your statement to mean...

Not sure how DACs came into things either...that was not part of your first statement

I dont know a single example of an amp using the same technology.... lets use AB since that is the ones used in the AVR of this thread....where the weight differences dont directly correlate to the amp bench tests.

When I use the word "better.".I mean spec wise as in a bench test
Audioholics is full of bench tests of AVR's that show this

Its seem that you are correlating your words with an opinion and not necessarily a test showing what the amp could actually drive in an all channels driven test

Again ..if you know of two amps of the same technology, where the much heavier unit performs more poorly spec wise( all channels driven), then I would love to see those specific models/examples

No. It's a clone of the Onkyo 7100 (as is the Pioneer 305).

It is similar to the Onkyo RZ50, but the Pioneer doesn't allow unique crossover points for each speaker.
