Same. I'm not optimistic that my grandchildren will want to sign up for "Amazon Kindle Prime Plus Mega Ultra Remix Presented by JP Morgan Trump Chase Musk Bancorp" just so they can have access to these old books.

Of course, I'm storing mine in a fireproof box for now.

Great books, I have them all in paper edition to read to my babies, and pass on to their babies.

The Giving Mine is all out of Lithium for our electronics. So maybe we can fill her with water and call her a community pool! Smilie

This book promotes socialism, and that's all right.

My two favorite books when I was a kid but I don't think they'll hit the same for modern kids on a tablet

His books were a big part of my childhood reading, my parents bought me a good majority of his work. I find it ironic and a little sad these books are available in a digital format as he was oddly particular about the quality of paper his words were presented on. He undoubtedly would not have allowed this, apparently his estate/the publishing company don't care.

"Silverstein believed that written works needed to be read on paper, with specific paper for the particular work. He usually would not allow his poems and stories to be published unless he could choose the type, size, shape, color, and quality of the paper. Being a book collector, he took seriously the feel of the paper, the look of the book, the fonts, and the binding. Most of his books did not have paperback editions because he did not want his work to be diminished in any way. Silverstein's estate continues to control copyright permissions on his work and has blocked the quotations of that work in at least one biographical treatment."

Anyone know how the illustrations load? The sample looks screwed up. Is it in a good readable format for reading to kids before bedtime?

There is an alternate ending to The Giving Tree that I think everyone that grew up reading it should read. https://www.topherpayne.com/giving-tree

I'm convinced "The Giving Tree" was an epic troll by the author.
