I'm sorry but what's wrong with a dc motor? I thought DC motors are preferred on ceiling fans.

They are, they use a fraction of the power, live longer, and usually less susceptible to wobble issues. Usually at a higher cost.

As the header says, this is a remote-controlled fan. The Q&A says, "we do not recommend using the wall switch"

Why would you not use the dedicated wall switch?

Aren't most ceiling fan blades made from plastic? I'm sure some are wood, but not most that I've seen.

If you look at the installation manual this seems to be the same tech/original manufacturer as 99% of the no-name fans out there. It will only work properly with their remote and if the remote dies or you lose it, you will need to buy a whole new fan.

LED Lighting is a deal breaker for me.
I have tried a few ceiling fans with LED Lighting and none of them really light up the room enough to read anything.

To add, we installed 5 of these in our house. They are ok, but remote interface is bad (e.g. if power flickers, the light turns on) and the light is not very bright. Cannot recommend if you need the light.
